October laundry.

It has been good to feel some lower temperatures at last. Over the hot summer months it felt like it would never be cold again. Last night the air temperature dropped to 4C (39F) and I luxuriated in it. This afternoon we’re back up to 12C but it feels cooler than that. The sun is shining and there’s a stiff, dry breeze blowing and my washing line full of clean shirts and drawers is flapping all over the place most pleasingly, picking up the scent of the lavender bushes.

You make nature dried laundry sound very appealing. I just think about my allergies. Not a problem for you?

Honestly the first cold night after a long hot summer is the best feeling. Clothes drying on the line in a breeze like that is hard to beat, and lavender smell on top of it sounds so nice. I miss doing laundry that way, everything just feels fresher.

12C would be considered cold here. Maybe I should plant lavender near my line.
