When you’re weary.

I drove my wife to the airport yesterday morning at 5.30, well before sun up. On the way back things changed. The sun was still invisible, but its influence of light and heat was starting to make itself felt. I noticed the eastern sky start to turn a purply mauve colour as if she’d started to bruise after being punched.
I took the back roads to avoid traffic and headlights, and had it been an hour later I would have parked up off the road along Shane’s Hill to watch the sun come up over Scotland and the sea, all green and apricot with wispy cloud.
Later today, just as the sun will be preparing to disappear again, I’ll be heading back to the airport to collect the lady, and I’ll have to labour in home-bound traffic at the end of everyone else’s working day.

All green and apricot with wispy cloud …..
Anyway, I hope your wife enjoyed her short trip ….
Hope you didn’t go down the fast food route again whilst she was away .

I can't see the sun this morning even if I tried. We have pea soup fog here. I can't see the street right in front of the house. I can see vehicle headlights driving past but that's about it.

This is so poetic and creative writing. The imagery breezed through my mind. As I closed with eyes, I felt I was there walking on the countryside of Scotland. The sun kissing my cheeks as it shyly and gracefully unveil its warm embrace.
So, how did your lovely wife's trip go? :-)
