After doing an intermittent fast I must be careful about what I eat. I know I don't want to gorge myself or eat sugars or fats. A 16 hour fast is safe for healthy adults and I do mine monthly.
No pastry, pasta, cereal, highly spicy food, fatty red meat or fried and processed foods. I go for eggs, fish, avocado, steamed vegetables like spinach.
Easing back into it each time I try to always be conscious of what I eat. I also drink a large amount of water before each meal which helps me to not overeat.
Are there certain things you do each month to maintain your health?

I have been neglecting my health for so many years now. I don't exercise anymore nor do I do yoga like I used to.
These days I just eat what I want but I don't enjoy beef nor pork as much as I used to. These days, I prefer fruits and fish. And that's what I eat almost everyday. But no exercise at all.

You can never get it back once you lose it. It gets harder and harder as we age. I don't exercise either. I could live on fish and fruit.

I do intermittent fasting to control my weight. I usually do the 5:2 diet for a week or two to drop the couple of pounds that I need to lose. I just simply calorie count on the two fasting days, which does sort of limit my food choices. I don’t eat much red meat anyway, and definitely not processed food, unless you count cereal? I too drink lots of water

I drink liquid on my fasting days. I don't eat much red meat at all. Hamburger is about all. It's good to stay hydrated. Very important.
