Getting to know our new neighbors

Having nice neighbors with young kids is going to be fun.
Two Fridays ago there was a half day at school and Little E wanted to have a play date with the new neighbors children. The one mom and her kids were busy unfortunately but the other mother and her two children met us at the park.
They come from Brazil originally but moved here from Connecticut. It sounds like their husbands still commute for work.
This morning they waited until we got to the end of our driveway where we all wait together for the bus. Then they collectively yelled Good morning. What a cute way to start our day.
Monday morning we are going to say Good morning to them in Portuguese.
Photo is unrelated but is of some caterpillar Baby S and I saw around my yard on Wednesday.

@LadyDuck these are the only neighbors I’ve tried to get to know over the years. I did try twice to invite the young neighbor to the left of us over to parties but she never responds. Perhaps she is very shy as I am. I did make sure her son got a cookie the other day though when I gave ones to the new neighbors up the street.

Sorry I had to skip the photo. It grosses me out to see the hairy ones.
It's nice to get to know our new neighbors especially when they're from a different country.

@toniganzon I love seeing them but no worries at all about skipping the photo.
I think it will harder for them to try to fit in around here. It’s a pretty judgmental area and people can be pretty cliquey so I hope I am making their move here a bit easier.

@shaggin Yeah it's not easy to be in a place where people are so judgey.

@RasmaSandra it is nice. When Little E said good morning to them in Portuguese they smiled and said it back. The one woman asked Little E if she spoke Portuguese and Little E laughed quietly and I said “we wish”

@Wolfgirl569 it will be nice in the summer when they can all play outside together. My yard has to much stuff in it form my husband fixing things for me to be comfortable inviting them over yet.

That sounds like such a sweet way to start the morning, kids yelling good morning together at the bus stop. Saying it in Portuguese on Monday is a really nice idea, they will probably love it. Also that caterpillar is cool, kids always find the best stuff in the yard.
