Talking about doctors

So, I have been having this foot pain for a couple of weeks. It really hurts the most when I am in the house because I don't have shoes on. It doesn't effect me doing my steps because of course I am wearing shoes. I stepped on hard things twice in here..and hurt the same left foot. I kept expecting it to get better, and if anything it has gotten worse. In fact, I thought I woke soak my foot in Epsom salts last night, and afterwards it was terrible. I could hardly walk..felt like I needed crutches. I was talking to GPT last night..they said ice not heat is best for this type of injury and that I might have a hairline fracture in one of of my foot bones. They recommended a podiatrist, and to never go barefoot in the house. Well, I won't until it is better anyway. I will start icing it twice a day and see if that makes a difference. If it doesn't I guess I will have to go to a podiatrist. They will probably recommend some kind of expensive insert or something. I haven't been to a podiatrist since I was in HS and had a Plantars wart. Have you ever gone to a podiatrist?

I have to find if it is covered and if my health system has one.

@Ineeddentures I was just there. I forgot to mention it. Hairline fractures usually repair themselves, although sometimes they need some help.

Omg wow
Do you know how bad a hairline fracture can become?
Especially as we get older.
If you hadn't mentioned the part about it's worse when you haven't got shoes on, I wouldn't worry so much
But this suggests that you need support and that could be for a number of reasons
Can you just not go to a doctor for a normal appointment ?

Yes, I had something between my little toe and the one next to it that was hard, and it hurt when I walked. My primary sent me to the podiatrist, and it turned out to be a callous as a result of my previously broken toe never being fixed (in my family, we didn’t go to the doctor for a broken little toe). He took a sharp tool, and sliced it off. He then said to wear a toe separator. They are driving me nuts because they never stay put. The visit was really no big deal though. Quick and painless.

I probably wouldn't wear something if it was too bothersome..but if it would help me get better faster I probably would at least for awhile.

@snowy22315 The thing is, I quit wearing it, and it started growing back, and hurting again.

That sounds rough.
I haven't been to a podiatrist, and I have had ortho surgery on both of my feet-but by a surgeon, not a podiatrist.
Having a sore or painful foot IS a big deal, and I hope that you find a solution for it.
What about an anti-inflammatory to help with it?

Two years ago, I worked all day wearing flat shoes with no good support during two days. Soon after my right foot started to give me problems, it was a sharp, stapping pain in the heel. I guessed it was plantar fasciitis. Ice terapy and good supportive shoes fixed my problem.

It isn't plantar fascitis. I had that several years ago when I was training for a marathon This has to do with stepping on the hard things when I was barefoot .like an impact injury

@LadyDuck so is this, but plantar fascitis is probably worse.

@snowy22315 - I am glad it's not plantar fascitis because that is really painful.

It would be nice. It is really pretty annoying, and painful as well.

As much as you probably don't want to go to a podiatrist if the pain doesn't start getting better maybe you should go. Certainly hope it's just a bruise and will heal with some ice therapy and resting it.

Yes, it may be a bone bruise. It didn't hurt much today, but of course I had shoes on all day.
