I watched Bullet Train. It's the 1975 version. I watched it on Tubi. No, there are no subtitles. It has Ken Takakura, Shin'ichi Chiba, Eiji Go, Akira Oda, and Raita RyĆ» in it. Big Warning: there are some sad parts The movie Speed was inspired by this movie. In this movie, there is two trains which have bombs on them. The bomber calls in the bomb to the rail crew. It is later found out the bomb is connected to a speedometer which will explode if the trains go less 100 mph. The rail crew lets one train explode to find out if it's true and what kind of bomb it is. The other bomb is on a bullet train which has passengers on it. Everyone panics on the train when they find out. Meanwhile, the police is searching for the bomber. The bomber makes a demand of money. Sadly two of his sidekicks get killed. In the end, they do find the bomb and defuse it. The bomber though is found and is killed. I liked this movie. I'm watching next Bullet Train Explosion. It's a remake of this movie.

Ive heard Speed got its idea from this one, so its cool you watched the original. The speedometer bomb thing sounds so tense, and I dont mind sad parts if the story is good. Let us know how Bullet Train Explosion compares to it.

Wow, I never knew about this movie. My husband is Japanese and I speak a tiny bit, so the lack of subtitles wouldn't be a problem (now that I know the story, especially). It doesn't sound like that was an issue for you either, though. Yeah, Speed definitely copied the concept. I did see the newer movie Bullet Train with Brad Bitt, so when I saw 1975, I was very curious.
