So , as you know I spend quite a bit of time with my Mom.
She does such a lot for me and The Mister and rarely asks for anything ….so when she does mention something I like to get it for her if I can.
A couple of months ago, she mentioned that she hadn’t had any asparagus soup in years….
I searched everywhere, but I just could not find any.
I could make some but the asparagus season is so short that she would only have the soup for about six weeks a year ….
Anyway, as luck would have it I found some …..not in my local supermarket, I had to travel, but, like I say , my Mom is well worth it.
I got a tin just to see if it was the same as she remembered…. I spoke to her earlier and she had had it for lunch , oh she was so happy as it tasted just the same as she remembered.
I am out tomorrow and I plan to stock up on it so that she has enough for a couple of months …
What would you buy as a special treat for someone you love ?

That's so nice. My ex and I used to go out along the ditch banks near the fields and would find grocery sacks full. We"d then go home and freeze. We would have it year round.

I would buy whatever they really want. And if it's the person I love, I know I know exactly what they want.

That’s fabulous. It makes me feel so good. It reminds me of a product my mom told me about that she loved growing up. It was like pudding, but fluffy; I wish I could remember the name! Anyway, she said they didn’t make it anymore so I did some research. I found an online store that specialized in hard to find items, and lo and behold, they had it. I bought her as much as I could afford, which was five boxes. She was so touched!

@AmbiePam ….oh that’s such a lovely memory. I’m sure your Mom was so happy to have her favourite pudding.

You are so sweet to find asparagus soup for your mom. I'm sure she was delighted to get it and will definitely be surprised when you show up with more.
I would definitely buy a special treat for someone I love if I was out and about and knew they would love it.

@Marilynda like I say she doesn’t very often ask for things so I wanted to try and get this for her. Years ago asparagus soup was everywhere , but , these days it is considered very 70’s I think …and not one of the popular flavours i had real trouble finding it but now I know where I can buy it I don’t mind the journey …
