So, I went to a couple of local events today. One was the fall festival which is always fun. I bought a ring that looks like a gypsy would wear, but it's nice for Halloween and it matched my shirt. Anyway, I went off to the arts center for an open mic for local writers to share their pieces. Some were excellent, some so/so, but most were good. However, what struck me was guys in the local get up, ball cap, beard, semi grungy clothes looking pretty blue collar. Not that blue collar people aren't smart, you defintiely want one if you are having issues with your plumbing or home appliances, but I always think of them as having primarily interests in cars or other tangible things..However. you never know who has the heart of a poet or who enjoy the arts.because some of those guys were excellent writers, and one had placed in some nationwide comedy contest. His piece was really clever.

Yes, most people have multiple sides to them. I guess it is easy to put them in a box when they look a certain way, but a lot don't belong there.

Yeah, was a bit of a surprise, if someone had asked me what some of those guys did for fun, I would have said something like go to the shooting range, hunt, fish or play on cars. Maybe they do like some of those things..but obviously reading and writing are major interests of theirs as well.
