I read the original Stephen King book decades ago. I saw the original movie, Carrie with sissy Spacek and John Travolta.
They’ve adapted it to a miniseries on streaming and updated it to today’s social media issues and teenage problems
It’s been kind of interesting and different. I’ll even go so far as to say that I like it. Have you seen it?

I don't get Amazon Prime but unlikely to watch anyway. Can't beat the original and there have been other remakes.

@LooeyVille Well, miracles never cease. And I don’t think I’m kidding.

I haven't but I might break down and watch it sometime. When do you leave for your trip?

I haven't seen it. Maybe I'll watch it at some point. I get tired of rehashing or revamping old stuff and would like to see some originality in Hollywood. Granted, you did say they are doing different things with the story. But that's still just recycling to me.

@porwest I finished the whole series yesterday (8 episodes) and they really took it off in a new direction. Carrie wasn't the poor, shy, backward Sissy Spacek version. And they set it up for multiple seasons exploring whole new avenues.

I read the book a long time ago too and loved the old movie with Sissy Spacek. Haven't watched the new series yet but updating it with social media sounds like a smart move, since bullying looks so different now. Might give it a try this week, was it scary or more of a slow burn?

@looeyville started it last night and I’ll persevere with it. I find high school dramas unpalatable at the best of times. I remember the film well and I like Sissy Spacek so a modern take I find difficult to get into. My wife’s enjoying it.

I know Stephen King is brilliant but I cannot watch or read his work. I tried watching Carrie years ago, it’s a big no from me. There’s enough real horror without adding to it so I have to pass on this.
