Amy Offenbach who is a Martin County employee was at the right place at the right time at Bob Graham Beach in Stuart Florida on Thursday when she saw three girls who were in the water struggling to stay afloat. Amy who has years of training as a lifeguard took the step to paddle her surfboard to rescue the three girls. By the time that Amy to the area where the girls were struggling to stay afloat, one of the girls was choking on the water when Amy used her surfboard to stabilized the girl who was limp. Amy then took the girl who was in trouble to the shore and take her to the nearest lifeguard station down the road when the girl was taken to a nearby hospital with minor injuries. The injured girl was reunited with her mother who is grateful that Amy who is a mother of a 14 year old son herself saved the life of her daughter. Amy insists she is not a hero. Just doing her job as Martin County employee. It bothers me why would young girls enter the water where there were no lifeguards were on duty. Link is msn.com/news/oth...

Fourteen year olds don’t have the best judgment, do they. You can tell them where to stay, but they’ll do what they want. And they learn the hard way.

I am so afraid of the water this story really hits home. I'm glad that this employee was around.

Amy was doing what she could. She's acting like a real mother, a real hero.

It seems that the girls where in dire trouble here, and so it was fortunate for them an experienced person saw their predicament, and could rescue them.
