Have you accidentally smiled at someone?

For some reason I was having this good thought while working and smiled. I wasn't really aware I was already smiling at someone who was looking at me.
I immediately looked away. I didn't want him to think I was particularly smiling at him. Didn't want to give him the wrong idea.
Fortunately, I smiled at the handsome guy. My "Tuesday guy!"

@toniganzon I guess it’s a little different here. Unless one is at a bar (I’ve never been to a bar), they aren’t likely to be misunderstood by just a brief smile. We’re generally friendly people (except maybe New Yorkers).

@AmbiePam When I am approached by a stranger for help, I don't hesitate. But I just don't smile at anybody. especially those I don't know at all.
Neighbors, I do. But strangers, no.

In Indonesia smiling to anyone is common practice to show politeness

That's good to know. I never smile at strangers. Especially men.

I am unfriendly that's why I don't smile at anybody at all. And that's why I looked away right away when I realized I was smiling. I wasn't even aware I was.

I just don't. People might find it strange of me. Especially strangers.

It happens to me more and more. I walk in the street thinking to my own business and it happens that I smile and people think I am smiling at them.
