lesson learned: keep taking pain meds. They’re the reason im not hurting. I learned that the hard way today. Now that I’ve had my Tylenol, it’s time to give you another song that mentions Hollywood. Here’s today’s song, and it comes with a profanity warning.
Not Now John - Pink Floyd
The “John” in question isn’t our John Roberts, or John Lennon or John Cougar Mellencamp Schwartz (Weird Al joke). It’s just a name, like we’d say “hold on, Jack” if we didn’t know the person’s name.
Pink Floyd bassist/singer Roger Waters said that he wrote the songs on this album in response to Britain’s attack on Argentina and what is known as the Falklands War. Guitarist David Gilmore was not too pleased with Waters being political. (It was nothing new: listen to “Pigs [Three Different Ones“].) In fact, this is the final Pink Floyd album that Waters appeared on.
But Waters had a reason to be mad. His father was killed in World War II. So, excuse him for being upset that Britain got involved in another war.
Now, after saying, all of that, this song is not necessarily about war. This is more of a slap at the production values of countries who let other nations surpass them in technology (‘gotta compete with the wily Japanese,” a reference to the era when all the technology that actually worked came from Japan).
There’s a version without the F word in it on YouTube, if that word bothers you. Either way, this is proof that Pink Floyd was more than those two songs they play to death.

I used “The B*tch is Back” in my list of banned songs. Guts or lack of brains, you decide.

@FourWalls - Maybe I should find a way to work "Hooker with a P*nis" by Tool into something.

Just now
I don’t know a whole lot about Pink Floyd so I didn’t know this one, but hubby did. Actually, I did recognize the song surprisingly.

Oh it is real. Lose your dad in “the war to end all wars, part 2” and you will be upset over any piddly excuse for war.

Dang, I've never heard this one before, it's different and not too bad.
You surprised me, I didn't think you'd feature pink floyd.

Anything Pink always got my attention, But I think they got this wrong because at the end of the rainbow should be a pot of gold,
