Are We Always Waiting for Tomorrow?

I was thinking about something that happened to me a while ago. There was a time when I used to complain about having to wake up early, rush through breakfast and get ready for work. By the time I got home, I was usually too tired to do much. I kept telling myself that things would be better when I had more money, a better routine and more time for myself.
Recently, I came across some old pictures from that period, and surprisingly, I found myself smiling. I remembered the little things I barely appreciated back then, the conversations, the laughter, and even those ordinary evenings when there wasn't much happening.
It made me wonder whether I had been so busy wishing for a different life that I failed to enjoy parts of the one I already had.
Of course, life comes with responsibilities, and it's normal to want more for ourselves. Nobody wants to remain stuck in a difficult situation. But sometimes, I think we spend so much time waiting for tomorrow that we forget to make the most of today.
Have you ever looked back at a particular period of your life and realised you were happier than you thought at the time? Or do you believe it's better to keep looking forward rather than looking back?
I'm curious to hear your experiences.

Yeah I think we all do this, always saying I will be happy when this or that happens. Then years later we look back at the tired mornings and ordinary evenings and miss them. Wanting more is fine, but I try to notice the good stuff while its still happening.

So true. Sometimes we don't realise how good certain moments were until they're gone. I guess we need to learn to appreciate things more while we're still living them.

You're right, Judy. It's easy to get caught up thinking about what we want next and forget to enjoy what we have now.

Of, course having something in our future like a holiday being planned, is something good to look forwards too, but thinking that our life now is not worth the full living as we wait for that happy holiday to come is wasting the good in today too.
Every day should be lived for what it is, and not delayed, or diluted down, by anything, either from our past slowing us down, or something from our future, speeding us up too quickly, to notice today too.

Yes, a time was when I was much happier. That was the time when I was in high school and internet was not around. I was looking for a job, although I liked more to have a small business of my own. I did a job, and later had a small shop, a grocery. I'm now happy.
