I donated to my classical music radio station today.

When I am driving, or chilling at home, I generally listen to KDFC (FM), our classical music station. It is a public radio station, funded by government grants and by listener donations. Sometimes I listen to KCBS (AM), our local news station. That's mostly when I am driving. I don't know if I can trust what our current "president" calls "fake news" (what do you think?), but I keep reading and hearing that the Federal government has reduced funding to public radio stations. Have you heard the same thing? Anyway, I donated a fixed amount to my favorite classical station today. Are there certain causes to which you donate?

There is a certain cause why I do not donate (most of the time) - cause I can't afford to.

@TheHorse A few years ago I could afford to donate more and I did, but with the cost of everything going up it turned what little surplus cash I had to almost a deficit.

That was my first thought when you said its government funded. It is still up under Trump. I always donate anything to the poor or homeless even though I am poor.

What is up under Trump? I do not understand this sentence. "It is still up under Trump."

Sorry I honestly and truly cannot donate to anyone or anything. I am really as poor as a church mouse but would never even think to ask anyone to donate money to me personally. I manage as best as I can and still count my blessings and thank the Lord for each day,

If our radio is on, which is rarely, it will be on a classical station.

@JudyEv We might call that public here. I'm not sure.

Are they "public" stations there too?

@TheHorse It's part of the national network of station so I guess no, it's not public.

I almost donated to the Christian radio station once but when I called, it was apparently man to buy people who were working out of their homes and she didn’t sound legit to me so I hung up

It is worrying, especially for smaller radio stations that depend on that money. It was kind of you to support a station you enjoy listening to. I support causes that help people in need, especially children and older people, whenever I can.

That is good you donated to them. I donate to the animal shelter here.

I usually donate "objects", but not money, too many scandals and money disappeared in the wrong pockets. Well, I donate every year to Wikipedia, not a lot, but as I use, I want to keep the site alive.

Sadly, I have seen "objects" wind up in the wrong hands as well.

I know that NPR has gotten in trouble with the government. I also know about PBS, but I don't know about other public radio stations. No I haven't donated to any causes right now. I used to donate clothes, but they won't come to where I leave now.

That is good that you have donated to your radio station. No, I don’t donate. I already help my family in the Philippines so nothing left for others to donate.

Good on you for donating, classical stations really depend on listeners like you. I have heard funding got cut for public radio here too, so every bit helps keep them going. .
