A Letter From The HOA and Trick or Treating

I usually start my morning with coffee (of course) and a morning tv show that I enjoy. This morning they were talking about an HOA community (not mine) that sent out a letter to residents regarding Halloween and Trick or Treating. Seems that the HOA has decided that the residents aren't allowed to give out full size candy bars! Their reasoning is that not everyone can afford full size candy bars so this year everyone is asked to only give out fun size. I live in an HOA community and we have some stupid rules but this is absurd in my book. If I lived there and wanted to give out full size candy bars I would be kicking up a fuss. I believe people should give out what they want and can afford. What do you think?

I thank heavens there isn't a HOA here, I hate being told what I am allowed to do on my own property ..... provided I'm not causing any injuries to anyone.

Some HOA communities have really crazy rules. Thankfully where I live my HOA is pretty good. I agree that you don't want someone telling you what you can and can't do with your property.

That is way too big brotherish..things like that are why alot of people hate HOA's. The one here minds it's own business for the most part. PTL for that.

my HOA isn't too bad and it's a fairly small community, There isn't too much drama happening here, But, I guess some really larger communities have lots of HOA rules to follow.

I agree with you 100% people should be able to give out whatever they want. I rarely ever went to a house and got a full size candy bar but when I did it was so exciting. I loved all the cabs though and money and apples.

That is a little over kill on the controlling of those that live there. If they are so adamant about what is give out, why don't they supply it? Sorry, that would have been my reply, maybe not the nicest, but I speak my mind.

I don't want to deal with any rules for what I can do on my property

Honestly that rule is kind of crazy to me. If someone wants to hand out full size bars and can afford it, let them, nobody is forcing the neighbors to match. I'd be annoyed too if I lived there.
