Have you ever wondered how cochlear implants adhere to the skull?

The collage shows more roses from the Rose Show that we went to today. It has nothing to do with the text. I’ve been seeing more and more cochlear implants lately. My sister-in-law has one and someone in our retirement village does too. Do you know anyone who has one? I suddenly wondered the other day how the white button ‘thing’ sticks to the skull. I googled cochlear implants and it seems a receiver-stimulator is implanted under the skin and behind the ear. The device is screwed to the skull bone. There is a magnet in the implant which aligns with a similar magnet in the external transmitter coil and this holds the outer component in place. I’m pleased to have found that out.

My uncle has one and I never knew how the outside part stayed on until I read this. A magnet holding it in place is such a clever idea. Those roses look lovely too, glad you had a nice day at the show.

NO, I know no one who has cochlear implants. I am going to research to understand what this implant is useful for. Those flowers are beautiful.

My best growing up, her late dad had one. He always thought it made him look odd.

Years ago I worked with a girl who had the procedure done. It made such a huge difference and gave her so much confidence. It worked marvelously, regardless of how it looked, in her life. Love the flowers.
