Just before my unexpected flying visit to Rome I happened across this little lady in a second hand shop in town. I’ve been looking for this sort of a bookcase for a while now and this is a good solid one with no woodworm. Now the pile of 40 or so books that were in a pile on the floor have a home, but it won’t be long till I’m looking for another bookcase. I find it difficult getting rid of books. I wonder why I bought such a small house. Oh now I remember, I couldn’t afford a bigger one with a large library. Do you old pieces of furniture or do you prefer to buy new?

I prefer older ones because they have more character.

The old ones have more character but they are much more expensive here than the new ones. Unless it is an art piece furniture, the new ones are of lower quality these days.

I prefer the old pieces of furniture. We had to leave almost everything in the house in Switzerland because too big for this apartment. Anyway I have kept everything I could.

I love that bookcase just my type, I have old decrepit bookshelves but at least they hold the books,

Nice find, a solid bookcase with no woodworm is hard to come by. I feel the same about getting rid of books, they just keep piling up. Honestly I like old furniture more, it has more character than the new stuff.

Your bookshelf looks lovely. Two of mine are over 50 years old. Vince made them for me soon after we were married. But 50 years old probably wasn't what you were thinking when you mentioned old!
