Trump just bashed Bill Maher after their recent dinner together

I could be wrong (I often am) but my impression was that Maher leaned more left/Democrat. Then I watched a few episodes of his current HBO show (I don't remember the name) and was surprised to see him challenging some Dem values. I'm not a fan of his and don't really pay attention to anything he says so whatever.
He recently had dinner with Trump and got roasted by all sorts of people for it. He defended his choice even knowing that a large segment of the country disapproved of it. Yeah great hill to die on, right?
Well last night Trump posted a 1300+ word rant on his failing social media site about how horrible Maher is, how he just wants Trump to appear on his show, etc. He called Maher "a complete and total loser" and "a total sleezebag".
Great job Bill. You beclowned yourself for what? What did you get out of it all?

I heard a recent (like 4 months) rant of his that I actually agreed with, and then maybe two months ago I totally disregarded what he said. I appreciate people who don’t always back one party. I mean when you start backing biological men playing in a sport against biological women, you start agreeing to agree, not because it makes actual sense.
Still would never get near Trump. I bet Bill said some things that really rankled Donald. That being said, neither has an opinion I put real stock into. Both are clowns.
