I am wearing thick soled winter boots this morning.. I will go back to sneakers when I do my steps though. I don't want to look ridiculous. There is a method to my madness I wrote on mylot about 2 months ago, I injured my foot. I have come to the conclusion that I probably broke a bone in my foot because it really hasn't gotten very much better at all. Chat GPT says I need to get an x-ray and or see a podiatrist As this being in the heel can really cause a problem. I might end up having to wear an orthopedic boot or some kind of orthopedic insert until it heals..Good forbid surgery..Anyway, they also recommended thick soled boots and to walk as little as possible. I need to do my steps to burn off calories..that isn't going to happen..unless I am absolutely forced to. Maybe if I wear these thick soled boots as much as possible it will help it heal. It doesn't generally hurt a lot with shoes on..but I can still feel it when I walk or stand. Yay, another thing to deal with.
I also have a bunch of appointments coming up in Nov. time frame including one with the dermatologist the day before Thanksgiving. It is rare for me to have appointments like this, but I am trying to get some things done before Medicare coverage changes. Did you ever know someone who broke a bone in their foot or heel?

@snowy22315 - Better to check to be sure there are no broken bones.

@LadyDuck Sometimes there are hairline fractures..that usually heal by themselves. Having to get surgery would definitely be the worst thing...I wouldn't get that unless there were terrible consequences for not getting it...but getting a boot, and or some kind of expensive orthopedic insert would also be bad.

@snowy22315 Surgery the first time, and a boot the second time. But to be honest, the surgery was more successful than the boot.

@AmbiePam Argh...I better not need surgery . I think this might be healing, but very slowly.

Hope it's not broken anywhere. Could it be plantar fasciitis.

No, I have had that before. The feel is different. This was an actual injury not overuse from walking. I do walk but not excessively.

I've broken toes but never a bone in my foot or heel. Since it's still bothering you I would guess you really did break a bone. Sounds like you're between a rock and a hard place where you want to walk to get in your steps but with the foot pain you shouldn't be walking.

It doesn't hurt much when I walk as long as I have shoes on. Hurts if just wearing slippers.
