Busy Weekend and Another Monday Rolls Around

Happy Monday Everyone! a bright sunshiny day here to start the week. Even though overnight was downright cold (almost at the freezing mark) the temperatures will hit 70. This is my kind of weather The weekend was busy and Saturday our "big" grocery shopping day. I say "big" because it took us 3 different stores to get everything we wanted/needed. One store didn't have everything we needed, one store had sales on stuff we wanted and the third store was just filling in what the other two lacked. I really don't know if it was worth all the time and energy to go from store to store just to save money. But the prices just keep going up and I guess it's worth it to some degree. One thing I buy every week is Thomas English Muffins. Walmart has them for $3.47 a pkg whereas the local supermarkets are selling them for $5.99 for the same pkg. Tell me that isn't crazy. And, that's just one example and I could go on and on. Saturday night my daughter went to her friends Halloween party, stayed over and come home Sunday morning with a goodie bag and a whole bag of garden cherry tomatoes from another friend. This is the second bag of tomatoes he gave us and I'm sure this is the end of the season for his garden. His tomatoes are so much better than the ones I have here from the supermarket. Yesterday we just relaxed and caught up on some tv shows. Today life is back to our weekly routine. My daughter is at work and I'm getting a few things done around the house. I'm busy working on a few crocheting orders and also trying to find time to read my book. Halloween is this upcoming Saturday and it's also daylight saving time so we turn the clocks back and get that "so called" extra hour. All the chat about not doing daylight saving time and here we are changing the clocks again. Hope everyone is having a good day

Every year we talk about the time change, I always wonder what the big deal is, but then every year when it comes around I’m like, ugh… Homegrown tomatoes sound SO good.

Ugh for me too when the time changes. I never feel like i get that "extra" hour in the fall and it's probably just my imagination that I miss the hour in the spring

Yes, shopping sales is a MUST these days! Your weather sounds almost as nice as ours. Our lows have been in mid to high 40's and low 50's for the last 2 weeks with daytime highs in high 70's and low 80's. I love it! Just wish we could keep it that way!

We’re having a very dry month which amplifies the feeling of the warmth although our nights are cold. It doesn’t sound like you have stores that price match, we do but some of the items are not available at the price matching stores.

High prices are affecting us all. I know that I try very hard to keep the totals down, but it's not easy. I cook more soups and casseroles, son likes them and they are more economical. Soups are our go-to in the cool weather. I often use the bread maker to save a trip to the store, or I make regular breads...just depends on what's going on. At this point, if it saves money, I'm there. The time change doesn't really bother me anymore. It's been going on for years so I think I just got used to it.

Two stores for muffins is one thing but $2.52 more on the same pkg is nuts... fr thats a whole extra trip's worth of gas right there. Hope the cherry tomatoes lasted longer than the supermarket ones, bet they're gone by wednesday lol

Sounds like things are going well in your world. Glad you got some good tomatoes. Not looking forward to the clocks changing, but it is what it is.

It is worth it to go to different stores to save some money. I will be doing that on Friday when I get paid.
