I will not do it

I cannot take statins. My cardiologist has had me take Repatha, which has bad effects on my diabetes, causing my blood sugars to spike.
I called both the pharmacy and the cardiologist about the side effects. Cardiologist pops right up with a new med to try.
My insurance will not cover it.
It has only been on the market for three months.
So they do not really know what kind of side effects it might have. For sure diarrhea and dizziness.. It will cost over $300 per month, and I cannot afford to be dizzy. I told the pharmacy that I will not pick it up.
We will see what I can do with diet and exercise.
In other news, my son-in-law wants to see if he can fix the Mazda for a commute car for him. He works in the automotive business. They have four drivers in the house and one of their cars recently died.
He will check it out during Thanksgiving break.
So I am not going to sell it for scrap just yet.
I am trying to get some housecleaning done. I will be back later.

My dad can’t take a statin, and oddly, he doesn’t need one. Which caused me to ask my dad why on earth would the doctor put him on something he didn’t need. The reply was that they just put everyone of a certain age on a statin.
I really hope you can find other ways to get it under control. Diet and exercise are easy to say, but sometimes a person needs some extra help.

The thing is my numbers are really pretty good. Yes, they automatically prescribe statins to almost everyone. My friend Beth who worked in a heart hospital refuses to take one. Repatha is not a statin, but it was not good for me either. I feel like my health is more threatened by diabetes than cholesterol.

Although it was my idea..The doc had me try a new blood pressure pill, and It drove my BP up. Thankfully, I still had the old prescription so started taking that again.

My blood pressure, when at home, is good. It is often high at the cardiologist, and almost too low at the primary care. You can tell who stresses me.

I spent a whole year eating oatmeal five days a week and had really good numbers. Since I have an exercise bike now, I can also ride it.

I hope you can figure out how to handle things with diet and exercise. Perhaps an idea for you here
Practical diet and lifestyle changes that can help lower your LDL cholesterol, from cutting saturated fat to the right kind of exercise.

I have bought books about this. Sometimes the advice is contradictory.

I check out the side effects on all meds. Honestly, many of the side effects are worse than what the original problem was!! And yes those big chunks of cash for meds not covered is crazy!
I hope you can do the diet thing and avoid more medication.

One thing that is suggested is high fiber, and I can do that easily.
