No, I didn’t plan it this way, but two of my all-time favorites show up on both sides of the countdowns about songs mentioning Los Angeles and Hollywood. Whodathunkit? Well, they’re favorites for a reason. Let’s head to L.A., where you can sing along. #3: Tiny Dancer - Elton John See you tomorrow. Listen, you kids are the only ones who thinks that’s “hold me closer, Tony Danza.” When this song came out in 1971, Tony Danza was a student at the University of Dubuque. I want to know why you kids have never wondered about counting the head lice on the highway, though. Yeah, Elton’s annunciation wasn’t that great (I had a friend in junior high who thought “high class ladies” in “Honky Cat” was “hot A$$ ladies” ). Honestly, folks, it’s electric BOOTS in “Bennie and the Jets.” Never mind. Just enjoy this incredible classic by Elton, written by Bernie about his first wife, Maxine. Tiny Dancer Written by Elton John and Bernie Taupin Recorded by Elton John From Madman Across the Water, 1971 L.A. LYRICS: Blue jean baby, L.A. lady

What are you? A blue jean lady or a seamstress for the band?

Definitely blue jean lady. I can’t sew to save my life. (Haven’t tried since home economics class in the 7th grade, though.)

@JohnRoberts — as rich as he was back then I don’t think he needed a publicist.

Yeah, great song. I know for a fact that Elton has no interest in “hot A$$ ladies”. More for me I say! Incidentally, Bernie Taupin was on “The One Show”; on our BBC1 last week promoting his first solo album for 40 years. He also said he was still collaborating with Sir Elton. I thought Elton had retired, but apparently not?

Elton has retired from live performances. I think he said he was still making albums, at least I hope he is.

He was my teenybopper idol. Over 50 years later, I’m still listening to.

And it was the key song in a classic episode of WKRP.

There are so many classic episodes of that show, but are you talking about the one with the Russian defector?

The "hot A$$ ladies" mixup from Honky Cat got me laughing... i still cant unhear it now. Elton's mumbling was a gift tbf, jk this is peak lowkey bangers territory.
