Several days ago, we went to John Forrest National Park to celebrate my sister-in-law’s 83 birthday. Sir John Forrest was the state’s first Premier.
The park is in the Darling Scarp some 24 km (15 mi) east of Perth. It was West Australia’s first national park and proclaimed as such in November 1900. There are many granite outcrops throughout the park. During the Great Depression of the 1930s, 1,000 unemployed single men (sustenance workers) were put to work building stone walls, paths and small weirs.
I was a bit surprised at how drab and colourless my photos were but that’s what a lot of our bush is like. Most of the wildflowers have gone now. The foliage is not a bright green and there are always a lot of dead branches and twigs around.
There were very few people there on the Thursday but I believe it’s a popular spot on weekends. There are a lot of picnic areas with gas barbecues and picnic tables.

It’s nice to see photos of landscapes that are different from ours here

You know what they say plants react to people and any wild life really. Why people talk to their plants, like anything alive they will reflect the mood of the place'
Dammit all I have is pine needles and thorns. Come on that was funny.

It's still a lovely area. I do like more green myself. But I would enjoy visiting there
