A very big but harmless lizard

We didn’t see any snakes or other reptiles on our visit to the John Forrest National Park but there was this sculpture of a blue-tongued lizard, known by most Australians as a ‘sleepy lizard’ because they are generally slow-moving. I’ve put up photos previously showing their blue tongues. We would see them on the farm and they would often steal eggs in from the chooks’ nests. They also loved strawberries. The photo also shows some of the stone walls and steps which I’ve talked about before.

They also loved strawberries. A hilarious throw away line, Judy!

I know a few people who were scared when they saw a real blue tongue lizard.

Even sculptures of reptiles give me the shivers. They are just generally not nice animals.

the sleepy lizard name fits perfectly, slow and chill and still sneaking eggs... i love that they went after strawberries too, smart little guys fr

I can just imagine how slow they move. In slow motion maybe.

I think to remember that you posted photos of the blue-tongued lizards, they look friendly.

No snakes = a good day, as far as I'm concerned!
