Time Change

I hope none of you forgot to set your clocks back this weekend from regular depression to seasonal depression, but with less sun. "I love that it gets dark at 5:00pm," said no one ever! Funny enough, we did have one person at work today who forgot to set his clocks back one hour. He was the butt of all the jokes today from his fellow co-workers. Poor guy. At least he was an hour early to work instead of an hour late. Any one of you have trouble adjusting to the time change?

Fortunately I don't, because we don't ever change our time here. No daylight saving time for decades. The last time we had it was when I was an elementary student. Our government tried if it would work and it didn't. So we never practiced it again ever.

@moffittjc I can imagine how troublesome that might be. Just glad we don't have it. Hopefully your government could decide on that.

Our government keeps trying to make some type of permanent changes, but nothing ever gets passed as law. Half of the people want us to be on permanent daylight savings time, and the other half wants us to be on permanent regular time. So no one can agree which is the right way to go. The only thing just about everybody agrees on is that we don't like changing our clocks twice a year!

I'm always fine when we change the clocks back 1 hour in the fall, it doesn't usually affect me in any way and I don't really notice much difference except it getting dark so much earlier. But in the spring, when we move the clocks forward, it messes up my entire biorhythmic schedule.

The only “clocks” (phone, ect.) I use set themselves back so I never worry about that aspect. But I don’t love my sleep schedule being off. I mean, if I really got that extra hour of sleep I’d probably feel differently, but it never comes. Of course, like you said, the getting dark at 5pm is the biggest bummer. I used to just not care about it, but I’d say in the last ten years I’ve simply grown to actively dislike it. What’s funny to me, is church. Years ago, when so many things didn’t set themselves back and or forward, we’d get people showing up either really early or way late. It was always amusing to see who would forget.

I think you're right, almost all clocks nowadays are electronic and set themselves up or back depending on the time of the year. I only have one clock in my house that I have to change manually, it's a battery powered clock hanging on the wall in my kitchen. Everything else adjusts automatically. I remember those forgone years when you would see people show up an hour late or an hour early. It was quite funny then, because you could always tell those people who "forgot" about the time change!

I'm good with the fall change, but it's the spring change that always messes with me. I guess losing that extra hour of sleep really affects us old people! lol

I wish they would leave it on standard time. I forgot one year when I was working but as I worked the night shift no one knew. We were the start up shift.

I think part of the problem why we can't solve the dilemma is that half the people want us to be on standard time, and the other half wants us to be on daylight savings time. My preference is daylight savings time, but I would be fine either way.

Even when we go back an hour? I only find it disturbs my sleep in the spring when we move the clocks forward an hour.

Does the coworker not have a smartphone? Time changes automatically there.

It just takes a day to get used to it. The laptop and phone switch automatically, of course. I haven’t changed the time yet on my one wall clock as that involves me standing on the small ladder and changing the clock’s hands. It’s just too high up for short people! Maintenance is coming by on Wednesday, I think I will ask him to do that for me. If we didn’t change the clocks like we do now, we would have a lot of young kids waiting in the dark every morning for the school bus. For their safety, I would like to see the time change stay the same.
