She’s a Garden Nut

Sometimes I worry about Diana, my dad’s wife. Our backyard was created for a lot of potential the way it was set up (ironically just to prevent flooding), and she made it live up to all it’s possibilities. But I came over to do laundry, and my dad says she’s been out there for hours, working. It’s really soggy from last night’s storm too. I can’t see what she’s doing from my view at the plate glass window, but I see she has a host of flowers going strong. As I write, the sun just came out; maybe it will get out of the 50s now. I don’t mind those temperatures, but she does. I’m glad she has something she loves so much; she’s just exhausted when she’s done.
I know a lot of you love your gardens. How much of the year does it warrant so much attention?

The Mister and I are getting into gardening. We only have a small garden but we manage flowers…him, veggies ….me and a collection of ‘ extraordinary ‘ objects !

I have never fussed terribly over any garden.
I learned years ago that what works best for me is low maintenance.
There is always the wedding and the thinning out of plants, and the addition of some, but otherwise, low maintenance.
I have a huge fear of snakes, and since they thrive in gardens, I have always tried to keep it simple so that there are no encounters.

I don't usually spend a lot of time taking care of it

Ours is a old house built by my grandfather. He had two large gardens. I had seen them. But later on my father suffered a huge loss in business. So much so that he had to sell both of the gardens. Now we have no space for a garden, but now we are planning for renovation of our house. We will have a large space for a garden in our new house.

Presuming she's relatively fit and healthy, it's probably helping keep her that way. Not to mention being good for her mental health.

I do admire a beautiful garden. But I don't like doing the work. Yeah, I know - lazy.
