Right. What's This, Then? - "This Town"

Did you know: The original members of the Go-Go’s formed before they knew how to play instruments? Belinda Carlisle, Jane Weidlen, and Margot Olavarria met at a Sex Pistols show and decided to form a band. They learned to play later. (It wasn’t uncommon, bands meeting and forming at Sex Pistols shows; three of the members of Joy Division met at a Pistols show in Manchester.)
I’d say they did okay. The band’s 1981 debut album, Beauty and the Beat, was the first (and remains the only) album by an all-female band writing their own songs and playing their own instruments, to reach #1 on Billboard’s album chart.
“This Town” was not released as a single, it merely exists as the closing song to Side One. It pulls off a nice little feat, though. It manages to sound sinister while also being full of bouncy new wave pop.
Fun Fact: The towels the girls wore on the album cover? They bought them that morning at Macy’s for the photo shoot. Then they returned them after. Stick it to The Man, ladies!

That’s funny about the towels.
I love this song “Our Lips Are Sealed.” This one is pretty good, too.

@teamfreak16 — isn’t the story that they were having an affair at the time, and that was what the song was about? Fun Boy Three also recorded that song, but I don’t think it holds a candle to the Go-Go’s version.

@AmbiePam - The second time was at an outdoor pavilion in Denver. We were in the 2nd row, center, for that one!

My sister took me to see them, I think 1984, as I recall I think it was in Peoria, IL. She absolutely loved them so we went. It was a fun concert and definitely a good time!

My sister was so fun to be with. No matter what we did together or where we went, we always had so much fun together.
