Could There Be Money Stashed All Over the Country?

W.C.Field(born William Claude Dukenfield) was a comical fellow with a smart wit saying things like “I spent half my money on gambling, alcohol and wild women. The other half I wasted” and “I personally stay away from natural foods. At my age I need all the preservatives I can get.”
Known for his raspy drawl, large nose, and elaborate vocabulary he performed in the Ziegfeld Follies and became popular on Broadway in the 20s.
He was born in 1880, his family was dirt poor, and he left home when he was just a kid. When he gained fame and became rich, he had a strange way of managing his finances. When he traveled, he would set up an account at a nearby bank in a crazy name (like one of the characters he portrayed in his movies) so he always had money nearby. This was done all over the country and even in Europe. When his people found out about this, they tried to find these accounts and close them, but did they get them all?
In my imaginative and somewhat demented mind, I am thinking what if now there could be bank accounts in crazy names all over with money just gaining interest over the last nearly100 years? I know, dream on.
They now say this is just a legend and that there were only a few accounts, and they seem to all have been accounted for. Hmm.
After his death in 1946, his partner Carlotta Monti reportedly said over $1.3 million was “unclaimed” in these accounts.
I'm a person who believes there is some truth in legends. I wonder if any of those accounts still exist. Stranger things have happened

I have seen many old clips of him ….” My little Chicadee “ was his saying I believe. I didn’t know about the accounts though , you’re right it would be worth a fortune now ….

I enjoy his quotes. He was in one movie with Mae West and they were fun together.
