Stepping away from the 80’s for the time being (sort of, but also sort of not. Just listen.) And the title of this one is strong. It has been, along with variations, a part of American speech for decades.
“Take This Job and Shove It” was written by outlaw country legend David Allan Coe in 1977. You’ve felt it at some point, maybe even said it; that, or some variation that might or might not be printable here. Maybe you’ve even done it.
Anyway, the song was turned into a classic by Coe’s fellow outlaw country legend, Johnny Paycheck, who took it to #1 on the Billboard Country chart (it also reached #1 on the Canadian Country chart, eh?)
The working-person’s anthem was covered by San Francisco punk legends Dead Kennedys on their 1986 album, Bedtime for Democracy. You’ll also hear a cover version called “Shove this Jay-Oh-Bee,” by Canibus with Biz Markie, if you watch the cult classic 1999 film, Office Space.
Link is to the Dead Kennedys’ cover version. Because myLot needs some punk on this Friday night:

Most likely Johnny Paycheck, since his version was the big hit.

I once had a crabby boss who vocalized her hate of her job constantly. One day she put this song on the intercom system for us all to hear, marched out of her office, screamed “goodbye and good luck!” And departed in a grand fashion. Honestly, she was so hard to work for, a lot of people cheered and clapped!
