Have you ever brined a turkey?

Thanksgiving is coming up in the good Ol USA and with it is the traditional Thanksgiving meal with turkey and all the fixings. Son has said he will definitely be coming down for the day so I will be preparing a turkey meal. Actually, I will just make a turkey breast as there will only be 3 of us, unless friend brings his other friend...he says she doesn't like to leave the house though although he seems to get her out a lot for appointments and shopping. She is in even worse shape than he is. Although his spirits have seemed better lately. I think eating and drinking more is probably helping him. Anyway, I was watching a video this AM about brining a turkey. Looks like a pain in the butt. I have always been curious about it, but it looks like more trouble than it is worth. Have you ever brined a turkey or had one? Is it worth it?

I never did. I used to buy and cook a small turkey for our Christmas dinner soon after I got married and both my family and the parents of my husband came to our house.

Just another thing to worry about. I would like to taste one somebody else made though...same with fried turkey. I am surprised my bro in law hasn't done that though. He is a big meal prep person.

@snowy22315 - I think it takes a lot of time to brine a turkey. Frying a whole one sounds pretty scary.

Some people swear by it, but going a big turkey dinner is enough as it is...brining on top of it is just extra work if you ask me..and who needs extra salt? Just about no one.

I don't know if my mother ever did that. I remember her making the stuffing.

Yeah, I am going to make my stuffing from scratch, It is easy to do and doesn't have all the additives that something like Stove Top has.
