Cold and Rough Waters

Today we went down to the water's edge in Grand Bend, which is on Lake Huron.
For those who are unaware, Lake Huron is the second deepest of the 5 Great Lakes.
It is a cold lake. Storms blow in off of the lake quickly.
It was such a windy day down at the lake. It was very evident when we went to the boardwalk. We did not get out, except for me to take a couple of pictures. I took pictures because I literally couldn't believe my eyes. In that cold water, with all of the sand stirred up as a result of the wind, I saw a group of guys surfing.
Okay, surfing is not such a bad idea, but when it is only 8 or 9C out, and the water temperature had to be near freezing-really bad idea.

That had to have been cold even with a wet suit on.

@Juliaacv I never saw anyone surfing on Lake Erie. I wonder if they do?

@snowy22315 On our side they do, but on that lake there aren't as many surfers probably due to the shallow waters and the small size of the lake. There are alot of kite surfing on that lake.

the apparently wear thicker wetsuits in the colder waters.
Lake Huron is a very deep lake, and the water is always cold, it is blue in colour, except for when the sand is all churned up from the wind.
This is the lake that the Edmund Fitzgerald sunk on in 35 foot swells.
