Just When You Think Things Can’t Get Any Worse

Yes, I’m officially almost dead.
When hubby and I visited his mother at memory care facility on Wednesday. She had a cough and said she was getting a cold. Yesterday she called and could hardly speak and was crying and wanted cough medicine. He went down there to bring her the cough drops and talked to the nurses and they said that the whole ward, which is about 30 old people, are sick.
So yes, you guessed it, hubby, and I are now sick too
So, for those of you keeping score, here are my current ailments:
1. Enlarged painful liver.
2. Monster migraines.
3. Recovering from eye surgery.
4. One or two broken teeth.
5. Cold or flu.
So yes, I officially give up and I wish one of you would come and take me out on the field and just shoot me like a lame horse. (that is an expression, I’m not asking you to murder me.)

The last two days of the cruise, Annelyn started to get a cough, and some little girl in the kid’s club had a cold. Sure enough, the day after they finally drove home, all three kids had it, and people from the ship were asking each other if their kids had caught something too. Of course! Kids will spread it far and wide. My dad and stepmom sidestepped it all, thank goodness.
I hate to see really old people get sick too since so many of them are so weak. That place really should have given your MIL freaking cough drops and not made you guys handle it.

Nursing facilities are not allowed to give out any, and I mean any at all, over the counter medications, unless they have a doctor's written permission for each time. And no, I am not kidding. I am sure they do it to protect themselves, but it's a law.

@MarieCoyle Then I’m surprised she was allowed to ask for them and receive them. Does a cough drop count as a medicine?
My grandmother was in an assisted living center so those are different.

I am, too. Especially if they are not monitored, and she could give them to someone else who could possibly choke on them easily.

Gig Young won an Oscar for a movie called They Shoot Horses, Don’t They. Popular expression, but in these days you do have to clarify that.
I have you on my prayer list.

No giving up allowed. Period. Just not happening.
Tie a big knot in that rope and hang on!
