do you agree that there could only be one actor to play Hannibal....and He did it well?? as much as i enjoy all 3 movies with Sir Anthony Hopkins, i do believe Silence was still the best...

Yes, a great actor. He portrayed Hannibal Lecter with great aplomb. But Silence of the Lambs is not my favourite of the books - I LOVED Red Dragon - and it was originally made into a tele-movie called Man Hunter. This Canadian version was even more gripping than the USA production. Brilliant writing and a sick mind! LOL. How can someone even think of such plots!

What a masterpiece! There is not much more I can say that hasn't already been said about this movie!I think it will always stand out as an excellent thriller. I will say that Anthony Hopkins is simply Brilliant as Hannibal Lecter. There is no one else who could have played the role like he did, much less carry on 2 more movies..... Hannibal and Red Dragon. It is no wonder why he and Jodie Foster are both Oscar winners, for she gives an outstanding performance as Clarice Starling. Winner of 5 Academy Awards, this movie will always remain a true classic in every way. Hopkins is mezmorizing in his role. A non stop thriller with twists and turns that keep you glued to this movie. Hats off to Jonathan Demme for giving us a masterpiece than no one will ever forget!!

This movie was a very intense one and Anthony Hopkins played a huge part in making it so! But I had heard that the amount of time he was actually in the movie was very short! Have I heard this correct I wonder? If so he definately left an impact.

i would agree with you too that Silence of the Lambs is the best movie for the trilogy. but maybe somebody else can play that part like John Malkovich or Al Pacino.

it would be interesting to see it with a different person playing his character (but with everything else the same) but i judt dont think anyone has that commanding presence as Anthony does in the trilogy

Excellent movie and acting. I watch this move every time it comes on TV. I must admit (which many men won't) that there were many scenes that he really scared me. He was so real and believable that he actually dragged me into the movie and made me jump and holler a few times. LOL

i do believe that anthony hopkins did well as hannibal in the movie. he's really a versatile one. and i can't find someone who can be a better "hannibal lecter" in the movie silence of the lambs.

Silence of the Lambs - Silence of the Lambs
I think that most of what can be said about Sir Anthony Hopkins in this movie has been said by others who responded earlier than this. He was so good that it was actually scary really and that takes a special talent, which many others could not have done anywhere as well in the portrayal of Hannibal Lector. He has a lot of talent and that is recognised by his peers as well, judging from the comments I have seen.

i actually think he is an amazing actor (the hannibal series aside) but it is a little scary at how well he portrays Hannibal... i even found him so amusing when i saw him talking to Oprah on foxtel the other day hehe thanks for responding

I would have a hard time accepting anyone else but Hopkins. I don't think the Hannibal character is like James Bond, where you can change him around every few years. Most people don't realize he was only on screen in SOTL for less than 20 minutes. It's an amazing testament to his power as an actor.

it is a huge testament to the power he gives off as an actor....i find it wonderful and fascinating that so much can be portrayed to the audience in such a short period of time...most actors or characters that spend 20 mins on screen or less, are forgotten by the end of the movie...not this time hehehe thanks for responding

I love this movie, and Hopkins was awesome, but I was disappointed when Jody did not play Clarice in the other movie!! But I also like Norton that played in the one that was suppose to the first one on how Hanniable got caught the first time around. They seem to be doing this alot, play the movies in reverse order....lol
