I see it all over on TV in magazins everything about this country screams plastic surgery, diet, exercise, fashion...etc. People tell you what you should weare, that you need to loose weight and need to be pretty "inside and out". No wonder this generation has a lot of issues like; eating disorder, hurting themselfes, constantly comparing themselves to models and actresses. Everybody is getting plastic surgery like it was the most normal thing in the world. And it is getting worst I think. How do you feel about this subject? ciao vicky

It's not only in America, it's also common in the Philippines, and I bet in all parts of the world. It probably has a lot to do with the advancement of technology. It does cost a lot though so I'm limited hahaha... but then again, people should be happy with what they have. That shows that a lot of people are not content. I try to have facials monthly because our air is so populated, I hate blackheads. My friends and I also spend a lot on toners, creams and sunblock. I don't see nothing wrong with wanting to look good, it's just that some people don't know when to stop.

of course everybody wants to look their best, but like you said some people overdo it. what i wanted to say was that some people get depressed over they way they look and that is not healthy to the mind to constanly think about being perfect. but if somebody wants to go and get their hair done or nails i don't think they are obsessed with beauty. ;-) ciao vicky

This is a sad but true fact. Nobody ever makes a big deal out of it if these "beautiful people" have no integrity or cannot read. Where are our priorities?

well, i'm glad i am not the only one who thinks this way. most people here seem to replay to the most silly things, but when it comes to something important....where are all of those mylot users?

Perhaps beauty means youth, getting discovered, money, Hollywood. Maybe to be part of the crowd you need beauty. I love beauty also, but I see it everywhere, not just in physical appearance. Take care Vicky86.

thanks for your post. that was a nice comment. to me beauty is also more than just physical apperance, but a lot of people won't see that anymore. it is sad to say that, yet it is true. people pay more attention to the lifestyle of celebraties, than the people they should pay attention too. ciao vicky

Obsession with beauty isn't just within America but worldwide. Blame it on magazines that are readily available off the shelves and the medium we see/read. Sad indeed but that's the reality in life.

just because you are fat does not mean you can't be obssesed with being skinny for example. many overweight children hate on themselves, because of the way they look or what people have to say about them. and because they feel not pretty they end up staying at home watching tv and eating again. you can't tell me that is not true? most important the midia makes them feel even worst about themselves by having this image of perfection everybody should look or want to look like. ciao vicky

I think America is so fixated with beauty becuz thats what they embed in our minds. Look at every tv show, or commercial, or album cover, or dvd comming attractions girls look sexy even in horror movies when their running for their lives and crying! I think its just an evil pawn in society. The makeup/fashion industry is out of control but such huge momey makers, itsnot even funny. We all wanna look like those we see, its just basic instinct. We'll dress like our favorite stars, act like them, talk like them, mimic their traits and everythin. Nobodies happy with who they are these days.
