For cooking and salad dressing I use olive oil. I like the flavor and the health benefits of monounsaturated fats. For baking, I use canola or soy because the olive oil taste is too strong. I try not to use too much oil at all and saute things in a little water or soy sauce. For baking I try to substitute some of the fat with pureed fruit.

Points for you, brimia! Thanks for sharing. I think what you're doing is very good. Have you always been that health conscious?

I'm not familiar with the smell of corn oils but I reckon it's not that pleasing.

I find that you need to be a bit particular about what kind of oil to use because a lot of them have different heat points. In other words, some oils will burn at a lower temperature than others so not every oil is appropraite for every method of cooking (ie. frying, sautee, etc.). I use olive oil when I can because that is what my family uses. I also love the taste of extra virgin olive oil with certain dishes. Other than that, I will use vegetable oil when I want to avoid an olive taste and when I need to fry something.

I use olive oil if I am sauteeing vegetables. For general cooking I use canola oil. I always use peanut oil in my deep fryer. Butter flavored cooking spray for when I am baking to oil the bottom and the sides of the pan.
My passion is vinegar. There are so many types and you can do so much with them; dressings, marinades, cooking, you name it.

I always use olive oil, except for baking when I use vegetable oil if I need to.

I like olive oil and have used it for about 25 years now. I buy the safeway brand usually. I like the light one too good for salads.

Yes, very much.
We use refined vegetable oil. Also there are many brands around which claim to reduce cholestrol and my wife particularly goes for the one whose claim looks to be the strongest.
I believe oil is one of the most important ingredients in our food and thus should not be overlooked. Our decision can really affect our lifestyle and health. You should take it seriously as you never know when our heart can betray us!

I agree. Apart from vegetable oil, we also use olive oil but because it's a bit expensive in our country, we only use it for special occasions. Thanks for the comment!

If I have the extra cash, I use olive oil. If not, I use vegitable oil as I am overweight. I will not use that other stuff...

Both olive and vegetable oil are good for the health, I reckon.
