Do you like Ballet?

Ballet - Ballet is a theatrical form of dance and is usually danced with the idea of an audience viewing it from a fixed perspective. Ballet can be a very expressive art form, telling stories and showing emotions, or the work can be abstract.

I watched a Ballet today on TV, its not often that they are on, but i do like to watch when they are. Ballet is a form of dancing performed usually for theatre audiences. Like other dance forms, ballet may tell a story, express a mood or may just reflect the music. Ballet dancers seem to ignore the law of gravity. They float through the air in long, slow leaps and keep perfect balance while they spin round like tops. During certain steps, their feet move so rapidly that the eye can hardly follow. Do you like to watch or even dance ballet and what's your favourite one?

In my youth, I did ballet dancing. I even taught it for a little while. I love to watch the men and women dance it now. It is so artful and beauiful. So graceful. I have no favorite, as all of them are a delight to watch.

dancing ballet is one of the talents i wish i have. but my parents didn't have enough money to pay for ballet classes. so i just contend myself with watching ballet on tv or in ballet shows that we get to watch once in a while. i like the way ballerinas move --- with such fluidity and grace. it's like poetry in motion.

It might have been the same program I watched - Swan Lake. Absolutely lovely!! The prima ballarina had the longest limbs I have ever seen. As you say, she seemed to glide over the stage. When she danced with the lead male I only had eyes for her, though I expect the girls looking on admired his talents!

I think the closest to watching ballet I've ever got is watching Billy Elliot! That was a fantastic film and a great story. Seeing a young lad enter a predominantly female role in a female orientated field such as ballet. I'm afraid I'm a philistine when it comes to ballet and opera, not my scene. But I have heard the music to swan lake, very potent and very powerful.

I used to think ballet and opera wasnt my scene as well, until i gave it a try watching one and i loved it. That was only a couple of years ago... so maybe i grew up a little cos i always thought it was for older people to watch! Try watching on... you may like it!

I love ballet and regularly go to Covent Garden to watch. I used to do ballet a lot when I was a child, but I gew too tall (5ft 7ins) and most ballerinas are about 5fy 2ins. It is a beautiful and graceful art form, and I wish it was more often on TV and publicesed for everyone to enjoy.

I don't really like ballet, but if i got the chance to learn ballet i would because, my teacher says that it helps you with your martial arts aswell, since you have to be able to co-ordinate body well in ballet and in karate.

I think martial arts films are a form of ballet. Very clever and atheletic with traditional form, movement and postures.

i find it hard to stay interested in ballet a lot of the time. my sister-in-law is a professional ballet dancer, so i do enjoy watching shows that shes in, but other than that, its not really my cup of tea. thats not to say i dont like ballet. i just prefer shows that have more of a variety though; rather than strictly ballet. i live in vegas, so we have such a huge variety of shows, and i find that the ones that incorporate several different areas of arts are much more interesting to me.

Yes, ballet and ice skating are two gorgeous ways to remind human beings that there is grace in the world, and that the body is more than just a juggernaught of existance.

i've seen many tv shows featuring ballet and i must confess,i do like it very much. Its a special form of dancing, not the normal senseless stuff and it requires a lot of practicing because if it goes even slightly wrong, the dancers will land up in serious trouble. This is the reason why I appreciate ballet dancers no end. Its a pity that these days nobody is willing to take it up because some people find it boring..

Sorry but I'm easily bored with ballet. Poor people having to stand like that and having their thighs get really big. I like figure skating, broadway shows but I don't know why I do not enjoy ballet.

I love to see them 'floating' using their toes from one point to another. During my high schoool, I have a friend (which is a guy) who tried ballet dancing in his school uniform infront of a group of friends. He's a macho guy showing his ballet toe-on-the-floor dancing skills and we all LOL!

Hi. I hardly ever watch ballet. It is too relaxed and slow going for me to really get interested in it. the moves they do, really do not catch my eye to hold my interest.
