Did you take the day off work? It's "National Sickie Day!"

Apparently, the first Monday in February is considered the day of the year when the most people miss work. This is due to a lot of factors, including bad weather, post-Christmas blues and there being such a long wait for the next paid holiday. Did you miss work today? When is the last time you missed work, and what kind of excuse did you give if you weren't really sick? Feel free to reply with anything that you can think of on this topic! ^_^ You can read the article I saw about "National Sickie Day" at the following link: http://www.ananova.com/news/story/sm_2188419.html?menu=

I'm guessing a lot of people missed work today because they were hung over after partying it up while watching the Super Bowl last night. My husband had to work last night because they couldn't get anyone to come in. I'm guessing they were all watching the football game. My husband doesn't watch football. No, he watches golf and poker but he wouldn't miss work for them. I wouldn't let him. The money is important to us, and much needed. I haven't worked in almost 11 years. I don't think I ever called in fake sick. I called in when it was snowing pretty heavily and I was newly pregnant and didn't want the stress of the long drive.

I might add that my husband does not call in sick if he is hung over. He goes into work and spends all morning throwing up at work. Better there than here. Ah, it's hard to put a good man down. LOL! Not so good, though, if he was stupid enough to get that drunk.

No, I did not, but would have liked to, I am just not a good liar, and too many people depend on me to be where I am supposed to be. I will however, get a day off in a week or so, at least from one job. We did have a lot of kids absent. I guess they must have really been sick.

Oh my I thought this was a joke!! It sure makes sense though!! I can't fake sick because I live where I work. I could pull the covers over my head and just tell my husband I am not getting up. Naw I would feel too guilty.

I didn't miss work OR college classes today. I guess I should feel proud of myself now. The last time I missed work due to illness was a couple of weeks ago. I've had a series of bad head colds that not even my ear tubes could combat. My face, ears, head and throat all hurt.

Well, I missed work friday because I couldn't get a vehicle up my snow covered driveway. We were snowed in.

*LUCKY!* I always wanted to be snowed in, but we rarely even get *light* snow, let alone enough to stop us getting out of our houses! I hate London sometimes!

I guess I celebrated early! I took Friday off work, but I'm in the office today! Actually, I just took a look at the "out of office" list for today and we're all here today except for one person who is out on business travel. I guess my office is the exception. Of course we don't have a long wait to the next paid holiday, we get President's Day off and paid.

Oh yeah, I missed work Friday because I was supossed to come in for a half day before a doctor's appointment but I ended up feeling too sick to come in for 3 hours (its an hour drive each way so it just wasn't worth it).

I actually took the day off school yesterday *and* today, so I guess it's right -- they calculated it due to the 'SAD' thing, right? I actually had a good reason to stay off -- I mean, I could've gone in if I'd wanted too, but it's half-term in a week, so there didn't seem to be any point...

Well I got to school but we actually had a snowday yesterday. I live in Michigan so it was a blizzard. I don't know if National Sick day was the reason of it.

i have never pulled a sicky...i have wanted too but i suffer from big time guilt...it was about a year ago the last time i had a day off work. but then again im not working at the moment. thats so funny about the February blues...i can relate to that! but in the UK they have the half term brake for a week..but thats only for people in the education system. if you ask me i think we should only work 4 days a week ..not a 5 day week.!

I wasn't actually meaning to miss work, but I did go home sick with a sinus headache. I didn't know about National Sickie Day.
