If something fell in the toilet bowl...

Would you still pick it up from there? I know it would probably depend on what's inside the toilet bowl and what fell in... My friend once posted on his blog that after a long days work and he was finally home, went to the bathroom and after using the toilet he noticed his watch was missing and he realized he have dropped it inside the toilet bowl, and he had to pick it up and wash his hands a lot of times.. ahhahaha So if it was your cellphone or wallet or glasses or earrings or watch would you?

Ugh , Yes I would . I have seen the little one's throw things in the toilet all the time and then it has to be me that has to get it out . There is nothing that makes you feel dirtier then when you have to do this . I now keep my bathroom door closed all the time so that the youngest one can't get in there because you can be guaranteed that if you forget the door open she will be the first one in there playing in the toilet or trying to wash the wall with the toilet brush and throwing everyday she can reach into the toilet lol .

I fortunatly have a reaching tool that I can use to pick it out...but I usually keep the seat down so I have never in my 20 some years have lost anything in the toilet...But I did see a baby bear in a National Forest Public toilet, but it was a big hole in the ground and well it got cold and wanted a warm place hide.

I have dropped my cell phone in the toilet before. And yes I fished it out. Luckily I had just flushed it, and I turned to walk away and my phone fell out of my pocket. It was not a pleasant experience. I ended up having to get a new phone, it never did dry out properly. I am guessing because I dropped it at it flushed, so the water rushed through it. LOL

I have 2 children aged 4 and almost 7, so yeah, I deal with alot of things falling or being dropped into the toilet. I have what I call "toilet tongs" to get whatever it is out..lol. They are just regular barbecuing tongs for flipping meats, but they come in handy when something needs to be plucked out of the toilet. They are sanitized on a regular basis with antibacterial wipes just so I feel better about them being anywhere near anything else in the washroom. Great discussion :)

haha..that is exactly why I had to post another response. I didn't want anyone thinking that I would pick something out of the toilet and then go have a barbecue with the same tongs..lol. Thanks for best response :)

As an afterthought to my response, I thought I should mention the fact that we ONLY use these particular tongs in the washroom for the toilet plucking purpose..lol They never leave the washroom and we do not use them for anything else :P

EEEWWW! Well my kids have dropped things in the toilet many times. Hair stuff, money, pens, sometimes even a whole roll of toilet paper. But I usually get them out because I don't want the toilet to get plugged up. If it's coins though most of the time I will let them stay in there. I always try to keep my toilet pretty clean but uugh, it's still just so gross thinking about sticking you hands in there! I scruuuuubb my hands like crazy though if I'm the one having to get it out, which is almost every time!

I can say I would because I have had to do it before =) I was on my honeymoon, we had taken a 7-day cruise, and one night during dinner ( I had had a drink or two) I got up to go to the bathroom and I always wipe the seat off before I sit down and my wedding ring fell in the toilet!! I stood there for a minute trying to figure out what to do, I wanted to go get my hubby and have him get it for me but I knew it would be gone if I just left it in there =) So I reachedin and got it out, I hadn't gone to the bathroom or anything, just the thought of reaching in the toilet is so gross to me. I went back to out table and handed my rings to my husband and said "I dropped then in the toilet"....he was like well thanks for putting them right in my hand after they were in the toilet!! It was funny then!!

yea..i would do so..There was once, i dropped my brand-new glasses into the toilet bowl.Lucky me,the toilet bowl is clean and the glasses is reachable by hand..It's pretty gross to think about it now..haha..However it definitely worth to do so because..the glasses is so freaking expensive that i couldn't let it flush away..

Yes, I probably would. I think that the hassle of going through to replace the item-watch, wallet, etc. Is not worth it to just reach in and grab it out. Also, I don't know what kind of toilets are out there, but a wallet or cell phone would not go down mine, and I would therefore spend alot of money to repair the broken toilet.

That's a tough question. I guess if it's a watch or something of value I would pick it up from inside the toilet and then wash my hands with clorox and lots of soap for a long time. Argh!!!!!!!! That's disgusting!

hahaha! yeah it does sound disgusting having to stick your hands into somewhere you do your "business" haha.. but I think if it really is of a great value it would kinda be hard just to let it go just like that ey? haha

Ah, this one's nice and easy to answer. If I dropped something of value, I wouldn't think twice about going in after it. However, rather than putting my hands in there directly, I might try to find a wire coat hanger or something that I could use to fish it out. You see, even though I know that I could wash my hands later, I still think that just knowing that I stuck my hand in the toilet would bother me. However, if the wire hanger can't grab it and the item were really precious to me, I would just deal and stick my hand in. I suppose I would also have to do this if something that coud potentially clog the toilet fell in, like a washcloth or hand towel. Oh well, I think I eill just resolve to be very careful about what keep near the toilet.

A rather interesting question is will you pick your item if somebody else's poop is in the bowl.

I would without a doubt! Mind you I would aproach it with caution, i'm thinking, latex gloves right up to my arm pits, should do the trick! .......... lol Or if there wasn't any extra long latex gloves to hand, I would settle for a waterproof bag (best avoid the Tesco carrier bags then) and put my reaching arm inside it and keep it held in positition by my other arm! Whatever the value of the object may be, I would still try and remove it, after all just a cheap bit of paper down the pan, could work out costly, if it causes a block!

toilet - my toilet seat
I have never dropped anything in the toilet bowl... now i need to go knock on some wood. lol. I usually keep the toilet set down, because i have children in the house. And i don't want them to think that they can play in the toilet. Boy would that be a mess. lol. But if i did drop something inside the toilet i would have to fish it out. Because more than likely it would be my luck that it wouldn't be flushable.

Hi, smints8985. I hate to admit, but I would get whatever is mines out of the toilet. I would take some scalding hot water and get to cleaning! I would also find some strong antibacterial solution to use to disinfect the item of mines too.

Yes I would pick it up, since toilet bowls are normally cleaned after they have been flushed, just that in my house there is always a cleaning liquid flowing into it which would make it a little difficult to pick up the stuff that has fallen in...I have only had one such instance when a washing soap bar feel in and I picked it up - all the best and happy mylotting

It has happened to me to be so sleepy in the morning that I would trow my socks to the toilet instead to the dirty clothes basket. Of course I had to pick them up, as it's a little dangerous to leave something that big in your toilet
