Starting discussions Vs. Responding to discussions – What do you prefer and why?

Do you prefer starting new discussions of your own or responding to others discussions? As for me.. I like both. It’s fun to have your own discussions coz I love to read all responses, rate them and mark the best response. I also enjoy reading what others have to ask and responding wherever I can. I think it is important to start new discussions else how will people have enough discussions to respond to ?

Yes like your good self I like a good balance of both, because it's like creation, using your imagination to dream up great ideals, scenarios and questions to pose to others, to find out how other respond! I like making people laugh with both my discussions and responses equally. I also love replying because I can get my point across and I enjoy looking out for interesting discussions where I give my view and elaborate, freedom of being able to express yourselves both in discussions and creation of topics.

I like to respond so I can make the money. Then I like to start new ones so I will have others to respond back too. Yes it is delightful to see how many reponses you get back. I remember when I first started I got excited if I got 5 responses, today it blows me away when I get over 100, which has actully happened a few times. Yes we should all try to start a few new discussions each week, it does help those of us who are interested in staying here and making this thing work.

yes i remember the first time my discussion was in the 'hot discussions' of the day - i was so proud of myself. and now.. my disussions are there many a times and i barely even go and check that page. funny how things change..

I agree it is fun to do both. I only do a few discussions now and then but only because I have a hard time thinking up ones to ask. I'm trying to at least do two discussions per day and then the rest I do in responding. I doubt I could ever be like some who start twenty or more discussions in a day. I just can't think of them.

I'm not sure if I actually prefer to respond to discussions but that is what I mostly do. I have started a few discussions and I really love to see the responses and comment on them. It is just that it is much easier to find discussions that I want to respond to. I have trouble coming up with discussions that haven't already been done multiple times before. And it is so subjective, I mean just because I think a discussion will be great doesn't mean that other mylotters will. I have gotten pretty good at responding to a set amount of discussions per day, so now I am going to work on starting a set amount of discussions per day. I do like to go back and comment on responses to my discussions and if hte discussion gets a lot of responses I could sepnd a long time doing those comments. Starting a discussions definately requires more time and effort, at least to me it does. I don't think I would want to start more than 1 or 2 per day because of that. So I think I actually prefer starting discussions but I respond more often because it is quicker. Sad but true.

I do both, and enjoy both. I end responding to far more discussions, than creating my own. This is because I can often think of a reply. But I have trouble coming up with interesting, thought provoking discussions. They are way too many superficial ones at the moment. I certainly do enjoy reading the responses, and often replying to them

I like to do both. I only start a discussion if I can come up with something relevant. I hate when people just give a sentence and want you to answer without giving any type of feedback what so ever. I enjoy starting them, rating them and responding back to them. But I also enjoy responding to other mylotians discussions.

i do more responding because i don't have much questions to ask and i like to help more so.. i can't help the fact that i'm not that creative when it comes to thinking of questions.

I don't post many topics because I can never seem to think of one that has never been discussed. I find it very enjoyable to respond to discussions and to read all the responses that other members have given. I must put on my thinking cap and try to think of some topics, as like you say, there will not be enough topics if people stop posting them. Great topic!!

I must admit I much prefer replying to discussions, than starting them. I will start one now and agan, but only if I think it will be really relevant, and interesting, and will get a fair amount of replies. I can't stand these daft one-line discussions such as "what is your favourite colour?", or "what do you eat for breakfast?", and if I can't think of anythung more meaningful than that, I truly don't bother.

I prefer to respond to others most of the time as I am not very good at getting back and giving my best response . I am going to try and give a best response to all my discusions before I start another one and then am going to try and keep up more with the discussions as people are answering so I don't have so much all at once .

i prefer responding to discussions because it's the way to increase and reach 500 points or more. i also like starting discussions in which i wanted to have some answers. i think it should be balance, start discussions and answer discussions so that mylot would still exist.

It really depends on the mood. If I can't think of anything, I'll just reply to posts. If I have thought about some topics then I will start my own. There are also times I don't wanna do myLot. But now, I'm a little inspired.

I prefer to respond to discussions if I can find some good ones to relate to. I don't want to make alot of duplicate discussions that people are tired of seeing. I have made some discussions and it is hard to keep up with all of the responses and replies. I have some that are still open that I need to respond to and choose a best response for also. I also have some open discussions that haven't got any responses yet. I find it easier to respond to others discussions rather than to make my own discussions.

Yes I like all of them too .when I have some question I'll try to find some similar dicussions about them or to start a discussion of myself and at the same time I like to make responses to other's which is my favorate or there is really some thing I want to have a response about this discussion .And at the same I'll excited to read the responses who have responsed to my discussion or to my response which I have responsed to their's .

I like both.It depends form the moment because if I don't have any good subject to create a discussion I prefer read and respond to other's discussions. When I read other's discussions I often can think to start a new discussions because I can have new ideas.

I like both. But I started to dislike making new discussions, because I get only 1-2 responses, which are not enough to understand what "OTHERS" think of my problem/opinion/whatever. When I'm sure that somebody will respond, I make a new discussion, but not otherwise. So I like to respond. I like to let people know what I think (not always, but I like it better here). :)

Responding to discussions is the money making way in mylot because you will not get paid for starting discussions but you get paid for responding to discusions.

I prefer to give response rather than start my own discussion. I've been a housewife for 8 years now and rarely in touch with the outside world. All I can think about to dicuss are family matters and concerning children. I'm afraid people might find my dicussion too boring. By reading discussion and giving my response, I was able to get in touch with a lot of people.

I like both too, but often my discussions end up getting buried under the tons and tons of new discussions that seem to keep on coming up, and though my discussions are well thought out and thought-provoking and interesting, they hardly get more than four or five comments. I love reading the discussions posted by others. I don't read them all or even go by random, but pick and choose only those that appeal to me. This community seems to have a mix of people who are serious about contributing good discussions as well as those who put up discussions just for the sake of making a fast penny or two. I give the latter a clear miss while keeping an eye out for the former.

i like both the things. But I prefer to start a new discussion because many of my doubts that I have would be cleared by asking others their opinion. I am glad that I usually get the correct opinion or the opinion that I have
