I turn mine off just so I don't have to listen to it ring. I also turn it off so I don't get alot of message that will burn up my user minutes. I try to save my minutes and not waist them. I hate talking on the phone any way and we just have cell phones to use in case of an emergency and I am using the internet with my home phone.

My cell is never off. I charge it with it on and if I get a call and it's someone I don't want to talk to, then I let it go to voicemail. It's never off.

These days i dont turn of my cellphone...It might turn off if the battery is low.
If i am in a meeting i usully keep the phone in silent mode, but switch it off if someone is trying to call me very often during the meeting.
If i am gettinga call from someone i dont like then i dont pick up the call at all.
thats it..

I switch my mobile phone off when I am driving, it is illegal to use a mobile while driving anyway. I also switch my mobile phone off last thing at night, mainly as I can't see the point in leaving it on while I'm sleeping.

I don't usually turn off my cellphone even if there might be a call that I don't want to answer. Even when charging, I don't turn it off too. I just switched it off when I don't have any signal in a particular place, when I'm on an airplane, or when I'm asleep. I switched it off when I'm asleep because I don't want my sister or anybody else from the family to be reading my messages because i hate to be teased by them. lol. :)

i always turn my cell phone off when i am at a doctors office, a bank or any other kind of business place. i think it is so rude if someone is talking on the phone while someone else is trying to assist them in a store, at a bank etc.
I always turn my phone off when i am at a movie, a theater, a consert or any other kind of entertainment-venue. I do not have it on at work. I turn it off in restaurants and when visiting someone
I think it's common courtesy to focus on the people you are with instead of constantly be on the cell phone. Not many years ago hardly anyone had a cell phone, and we did fine. we do not have to be available 24/7.
