I've been thinking about getting my hair colored since AGES now - the only thing i am scared of is runing my hair texture/quality. Some of my friends complain that hair color makes their hair rough or increases hair fall. Is this true ?

this is my hair, after color i got a fun photo ^_^ - dark brown and used my colours for asian hair, cause its best to last also cheaper but may be too strong for you..
have a safe and mild product, loreal metallics works good for me, but only for a minimum month rage cause my hair growth is fast.. i also love colours, its really for asian hair, i use the dark brown color.. since white hair has always been my worst problem since childhood. i remember discovering it at age 8 and then on it never stop growing in front and middle areas, and sometime if i never color for a year, it makes a look like rouge the x-men character, and others even tease me as grandma! grandma! but my beloved understood my situation because he also have such we both had it hereditary.. well, he never colors.. hhehe.. but i do almost after every 3 months.. if i was still singing then i color every month.. the funniest experience i got was my manager forced me to color it like violet bluish highlight i look like cartoons.. the product used was not good to me, i had hair breakage and hair fall in alarm, but i manage to regain it again, i crushed old coconut meat extract and directly apply it to my hair and its saved.. yes, it affects hair specially if your hair cant withstand direct and harmful chemical coloring, such products that are not too good and harmful really brittles our hair, thats why choose the best, milder its seen in its texture and smell lesser ammonia concentration, i say use cream based colorant, like loreal or wella, even revlon. but in any color you shall put and any product you purchase, make sure to maintain the hair's vitamin needs, have a hair spa or hot oil maintenance every week.. once or twice a week, never forget color protectant conditioners as well, good luck simplyjo.

What about using henna? The range of Lush hennas are really good for your hair as they can increase its shine and health. They're a natural alternative to chemical dyes. Go to Lush.com and take a look.

I never had it increase my hair falling out. Some women like to color their hair as it gives it some volume and texture. I did not like coloring my hair when it was long, as the feel was not as good after awhile, especially on the ends. I am sure it would be fine short. You might start by trying a level one product, which washes out rather quickly, but then you can see how it will look and feel. Level three is the most permanent. Red is the hardest color to maintain.

Hair colour can definitely effect the condition and quality of your hair. I use a permanent hair colour as I went grey quite young. The key to a good hair colour, is to get a good quality one, many now contain a conditioning tratment as well. I find there are no side effects on my hair.

Go on, give it a try, you know you want to :-) Try to use a wash in/wash out hair dye first of all, just to see how you get on with it. I find the semi-permanent hair dyes can be a bit harsh if you use them too often but the permanent type are fine. Just remember to use a good quality hair conditioner after you dye your hair, that will keep it in good condition

I have never had that problem..my hair does get dull if I dye it too often =) But if you use a good hair dye they come with a good hair conditioner to use after you dye your hair. I use Loreal Feria and they are great!! The conditioner is enough to use several times and it makes my hair really soft!!

lol I actually colour mine as my natural colour ids dark Blonde and I have never had a problem. As long as you do not use cheap and nasty Colour, as long as you do not do it every Week just every 6 weeks and as long as you treat hair properly you should have no problems.

I use hair color every 4 months and it gives my hair a lot of body and makes it look and feel healthier. I have been doing this for about 10 years. Just be careful and only color it every 4 months or less often. I had a friend who colored hers every 2 weeks because she went blond and the roots would show. She almost killed herself from so much dye in her blood stream. Anything at extremes will harm you , so just be smart when doing it.

There can be allergic reactions, uneven coloring of the hair, hair turning green or something. Can cause the hair to break. You must trim your hair just before applying the dye. Starting at the roots since new hair needs more penetration. Lots of people do it and I am not one. Only have used henna. A natural type dye. Good luck with your results.

I have found that the home hair color kits do dry out my hair terribly and they do not look as natural as the salon formula ones do. I now go to the beauty shop and have my hair professionally colored and it does not dry my hair out and it looks much more natural. My hair is so hard to color and so thick that I had to use 2 boxes of coloring and they have to use double at the beauty shop too.
