Do your responses keep disappearing before they are posted ?

I sit sometimes and answer a discussion and I put my heart into it and then when I hit the button to upload it , poof !! its gone , I have a tip for you all , simple but saves you shouting at the PC before I hit the upload , I highlight it and copy it ,so If it disappears you can copy it again , saves a lot of frustration and is so quick to do , You might not be able to do this until you have done 500 posts though , not sure xx

ugh happens to me all the time!! Thats half the reason i haven't been posting as much. I've been getting sick of writing these long responses and then NOTHING when I go to post. What the heck is that about?? I can't copy and paste because I don't have 500 posts. I feel like they should lower it to 100 posts...it's so annoying! Ugh, you've touched on a nerve of mine lol.

It happens like a bad joke sometimes, too. You think that you had your best response so far only to vanish in thin air. The idea goes and the urge to re-type is nil. What am I saying? LOL.

Nop, it never happened to me. Sometimes I fail posting a response because the page doesn't load properly but normally it doesn't happen and I never had that kind of problem.

I've had it happen and I try to remember to copy first, especially when it's a really long post. I don't want to have to try and retype it. If you are below 500 posts you can't copy and paste, which I know makes it a bit frustrating but I can understand their rules on it.

Copying is great for those of you who have passed 500 posts. You can just paste it back in. If it's a long response, it's more than frustrating it's ridiculous. I've written the help desk and basically got an oops. I think the 500 post rule is goofy too.

I do that all the time weemam, even if its just a few lines. I've had bad experiences with long responses disappearing, it is so annoying! But even more frustrating is when I was unable to make posts to two discussions, both different ones, I typed out a long response and no matter how many ever times I tried to post it I got the error "Please post a response"..duh! Copy/paste didn't work so I tried retyping the whole thing. I simply gave up after a couple of tries!! lol I have no idea why I had such a problem.

Yes some of my responses keep disappearing but I do this what you are stating here I copy and paste just in case so I do not have to repeat my actions on here as it can be very frutstrating when the site does this to us. But I do think that you would have to have 500 points first.

Yes, that has happened to me so many times. I would be so busy typing, all the creative writing juices flowing, seeing the words just come together on the screen. After editing the paragraphs, correcting grammar and errors, and satisfied with my product, I hit the post response tab. The screen would fail to load and I lost everything that I have written. Talk about frustration. Sometimes I would retype the whole thing again, trying to reconstruct my thoughts from memory and post it again. But I was not a happy camper after the experience. The worst thing that ever happened to me was a response I wrote about another poster who was violating some mylot rule. I wrote a response and I lost it. Thinking it was gone, I retyped the whole thing (this time I actually copied it to Word, so I have the exact post) and sent it again. My computer did another hiccup so I sent it again. To my dismay, it was posted three times, and I felt totally embarrassed, like I was really trying to get this person and I felt like I'm such a complainer. Consolation is the discussion starter granted me best response, but still it was embarassing. I hope we will have no more incidents like this.

yes it has happened to me a lot of times. but i have observed a good habit of saving my posts first in word document so that in case there are problems in the system with regards to posting them, i wont have to rewrite things over and over again. it saves me a lot of time and effort doing so.

To be honest I don't count my discussions , I look at the end of the day to see how many I have done , and some days I get a lovely surprise xx

I've had that problem today also. I type a long response to a topic and press the post response button that is to take me to the next page to tag it, and poof my message is gone and I didn't even get to tag it. I lost my whole response that I typed. I have to reload the page and type it again. It only happened to me a couple of times today. I should start copying and pasting like you said, to try to avoid the loss from now on. I try not to copy and paste anything here though because mylot rules are a little confusing to me. I'm not sure they would accept it.

This happens sometimes when I use Internet Explorer. For some reason the communication with Mylot is slow. But then the "Copy and Paste" is possible only for those high up in the points spectrum, so for now, I tend to copy the message before I hit the "Post Response" button. So when it does hang, I could easily paste the discussion in notepad, and then recreate it. It is a bit bothersome - but as a "newbie" I understand that I have to earn my Mylot stripes. And it takes 500 responses to achieve the first basic level. Cheers!

Sounds like a good idea, although Ive never had this problem on mylot. Why would you need 500 posts before you can copy?

This is commonly experienced by me! And naturally like many of us I tooget disheartened and occassionally I even drop to retype the discussion out of frustration! Even if I type the discussion again, I don't get that originality, depth and the fluency in the discussion Like you mentioned I tried to copy and repaste it in such moments , but then we get a message that pasting is not allowed as my scores are below 500 mark. It is quite afrustrating thing! I really don't understand why this thing happening! Is this the mistake of Internet connection ot the mistake at the level of the logging site! What soever may be the reason the result is nothing but just frustration and only frustation! I wanted to post about it in the past but having seen your posting I now dropped the idea of doing so! Thanks for posting such an useful discussion!

It happened to me for the first time today. I was responding to a topic (about finding loose change), hit the "post response" button below my response, and when the page loaded it was back on the homepage of mylot. Very frustrating! Unfortunately I'm not allowed to copy and paste on here just yet, or else I would have done just that!
