your love is the only gift I need sweetie.....knowing that we are working towards being together and sharing the rest of our lives together is the greatest gift.

I will share with you what my husband got me for our last anniversary....a used electric hedge trimmer that he got at a yard sale. hahahaha Inexpensive, yes. Meaningful, possibly. Romantic, I think not.
You might send homemade cookies to your guy.

hmmm.... It depends you could do something clever and witty that would mean only something to you two. Or try and make him something from the heart those are often the best. I know a lady whose husband said he wanted peace on earth so she got a jar and put some dirt (earth) in it and then took dehydrated peas and placed them on top, closed the lid and wrote "Peas on Earth" :) This year he asked for Tranquility, so she found an E.T. and stuck a "tranquil" dart in his butt. :) Little silly things like that can be fun and very inexpensive to do, it just really depends on his personality and your relationship with one another.

Since you are not married I am not sure what this gift would be. Without more information I am not sure what to suggest. Don't know what I could suggest. My first thought would be to meet in the middle and share some time. Not sure how you date without being there and he there with you. I hope all is well and that you have a wonderful time on that auspicious day.
