Keeping your head down can be profitable.

I have a tendency to always look down when I am walking. I was taught to watch where I am going. I was told to watch my step. As a result, I find a lot of money that other people have dropped. Sometimes it is just coins but occasionally I will find paper money. Whatever I find I put in my change jar and over time it really adds up. Keep your head down....you never know what you will find.

I agree and found 19 postage stamps and a dollar on my walk earlier. It would be great if every walk had that kind of result. Walking has been profitable for me.

Haha, this is a very interesting post. I have always been taught to look up when walking - so that I can lift my head up high, so to speak. And looking down? Hmm... no wonder I haven't found any money for years. *tsk* *tsk*

Then does this mean I might possible be richer than Lord Wizzy??? LOL I find money all the time and put it in my water jug. It is getting full. I am going to have to empty it soon and roll all those coins. You know, if you never look down you might miss seeing me because I am short.

It is a Culligan's Water Jug. It is name brand. So la di da! I am sooo stylin' with my name brand water jug. I got it at a yard sale for 50 cents. And what pray tell does my Lord have to store his many coins in? (whispering) probably a no name vault. LOL

Aren't you being too practical? With the wealth you have accumulated, you can afford something better than a water jug! :P

If I find any money on the road, I just spend it for a publc cause. If the money is a large sum, I will try to locate the owner and give him back.

Ditto. Add me to the list. As a kid I was taught not to use any money found. First try to find the owner, and if he is not found, put it in a collection box in a temple or give it to a beggar or anything like that.

Ok, don't take this wrong but I think I am going to start following you around. I only find coins and an occasional dollar. I want to find big money like you. No, that is not me stalking you. LOL No, really, just following you, not stalking. I will race you to pick the next big bill.

Hello royal!(",) I myself is always looking down when I walk because I wanted to be sure that I'm on the right path and there times when I feel a bit shy to people around me. The sad part is that I can't find any coin. Good for you because you can always find treasures along the way.(",) Great day and God bless!(",)

I like to find these little treasures. It brings me some joy each time. My friends swear I can actually smell money. They will walk right passed money that I will smell or see.

I do the exact same thing. When I still wrote, I wrote two separate pieces that mentioned walking with my head down. One of them was about the interesting things you see in general, and one was about collecting change and how I often find something at least once a week to put into my change jar. The last time I emptied my jar I had over $200 in it. Now I have about $50, and I've also started saving my $1 bills. I decided if I took away the change and the ones, I would not only be squirreling away my money, but I would also keep myself from buying junk from vending machines!

Sounds like you have a very frugal plan going on. I like it. I find a lot of money in parking lots when I am walking from the car to the store door or when I come out of the store and am going to my car. Since I might have a cart, I have learned to watch slightly ahead or to the side as well.

That is true that you can sometimes find money laying around on the ground, especially in my home. LOL I too have found some money laying around but nothing big as of yet, other than at the ATM machine. One place you do not want to keep your head down is when you are crossing the road though, otherwise you will not see the car coming at you.

At home, I find money in the pockets of the jeans and coats when I am doing the laundry. The house rule is: finders keepers.

My mother has always had an uncanny ability to spot dropped coins and such when she is walking. I have been walking with her in a large store and she will suddenly stop and point under some display or somthing. She is amazing. She too puts the found treasure in a special place and when it has accumulated to a nice amount she does something special with it. Amazing, simply amazing. She is espcially good at finding coins in parking lots.

Pay close attention to your mom and her habits. Learn how she does it so you can do it too.

This can be profitable, that's true. One day I found $100; it was on the carnaval and I was in a square full of people. But, this is an exception, usually I find like 50 cents a week...

Now 50 cents a week times 52 weeks could add up over the years. If you put that money in a savings account and earn 5% interest on it, it will grow even more. Then you take a little of that and invest it in stocks and you will make even more money.

well now my husband can get off my back..lol. I tend to walk with my head down as well, I am very clumsy and trip a lot so I look down to make sure I am putting my feet in the right places..hehe. I did find an envelope at the grocery store once with over $500 US but I gave it back, I saw a woman looking around frantically, and I walked over and asked what was the matter. She said she had lost an envelope with her rent money inside, I gave it back to her, I just wanted to make sure she was the right person first.

Yes, if you keep your head down you can earn a lot, but you must beware of the envy. Many people may think you look inwards to yourself or so they will try to sell you. Keep your head down but watch where you going and pickup the gems you find in the way.

Yeah, my husband once found over $1200 in an envelope on the ground in a parking lot. Now we always look on the ground and I do pick up every penny I see. You'd be suprised how it can really add up.

I don't particularly keep my head down but sometimes I do find some money in the streets, nothing much and it's rare that it would never accumulate anything useful in savings ..

I try to be alert to everything going on around me. If I keep my head down I may miss the opportunity to wave to someone driving by or to see my dog suddenly across the road, down the street and rapidly disappearing around the corner. Or perhaps I'll spot someone in the distance whom I don't wish to stop and speak with in which instance....THEN I will put my head down so as to appear to be deeply engrossed in whatever is out of others sight. LOL.

My friend and i at school used to go around picking up pennies that people had dropped, it was fashionable back then to throw them away so we used to scoop them all up. As we were only kids we spent them in the tuck shop at break time, but we got bullied like mad for picking them up LOL. I still pick up the odd pennies off the floor is i see them but i wouldn't walk with my nose to the floor looking for them LOL
