Do you use your microwave more, about the same or less than a year ago?

Last year, our microwave quit working and I told my husband that we couldn't live without a microwave. We looked at many different brands and sizes, but decided to get one that was affordable and large enough to cook a meal. We purchased an Emerson.
Do you use your microwave more now than a year ago like me? I find the microwave cooks faster and doesn't make the house hotter. Are you using your microwave the same amount like my brother, who just uses his to reheat food. My parents informed me they are using their microwave less and plan to put their microwave in the motor home to use when they are traveling.

To be honest I find I am using my microwave a lot more lately. I have taken to pre-preparing meals for my partner and I, and putting them into the freezer in microwaveable containers. It's both economical and time saving for us, take our meals from the freezer and into the micorwave.

Thank you for the response. I am doing the same thing, as my husband and I are eating smaller meals. I use to prepare large meals when my children were young, as they would bring a friend to dinner.

I use my microwave the same I have for years. I don't have a "regular" stove, so I do at least half of my cooking with the microwave. What can't be cooked in the microwave is cooked in the crockpot or the electric skillet. I've become quite the expert in microwave cooking, and I make anything from meatloaf to popcorn in it.

Thanks for the reply. I think people are lucky to have so many time savers now. It use to take me hours to make a meal and now can have dinner on the table in less than 10 minutes.

I think we are using ours more this year than we did last year. We seem to be eating out alot more than we used to and we always have leftovers to reheat in the microwave most of the time. We also buy hot pockets and different kinds of food that you can either cook in the microwave or reheat in the microwave. As technology is growing and the world becomes more fast pace, we barely have time to sit down and cook a decent meal. We are usually getting carry out from fast food restaurants quite often and we always buy enough so we will have lunch for the next day.

Thanks for the response. We do eat out more often also. I like to buy food from Subway and their deals always mean more food than we can eat in one sitting, as there is a coupon in the paper buy 3 foot longs. I can quickly heat them up with a baked potato and some soup to have a filling meal.

i m having microwave at my mom's place but i m not having at my in-laws place where i m living and i havent used it from last one and a half year as that is the time of my marriage . before that i was using it.
people here feel that it is unhealthy to cook in it and we will suffer from cancer and all. but life is very easy in it as i can cook very fast in a micro than in any other thing.

Thank you for the response. I can understand that many people don't need one, as they isn't any reason to have an item that is just going to sit on the counter taking up space.

Thanks for the response. Several of my friends don't own a microwave and I can understand the safety issues.

I love the micro wave. I use it daily. In our home, and in our RV. I could not live without it. I always defrost foods, or heat up cooked ones quickly in it.
