MyLot Came Through Again for Us!! - Best Responses!

I asked myLot if best responses helped our star rating here is the answer. Best Responses whiteheather39 (4317) 3/9/2007 There have been many discussions opened regarding Best Responses and what benefits they have. I was under the impression that they helped increase one's reputation and subsequently help increase the earnings. Am I wrong? I have been responding this information. Please advise me if I am correct in my assumption. I'm sure I read it someplace. respond to this message myLot (47) 4/4/2007 Your star ratings rely soley on the myLot users. Your number goes up or down depending on how your discussion/responses are rated. If a myLot user gives you a postive rating, your number will go up, if you get negative ratings, you're number will go down. Let us know if you have any questions regarding this matter. myLot Staff My interpretation of this is that they have no effect on our stars and subsequently our earnings. Do you agree?

I am glad you posted that because I have just responded to a post where the poster wanted to know if giving a plus or minus effected our earnings. I think getting a minus would effect our star rating but I don't think it would effect our earnings.

The way I read it is the star ratings are solely related to mylot users ratings and they did not say earnings were related to the star ratings system. So your star rating comes from the users and how they rate your discussions and responses. How earnings are calculated still remains a mystery...:}

I only wanted to know if they had any effect on your star reputation and they dont.

Well no wonder that some good Peoples rating are going down There are to many People on here that are down rating Members for no reason and it is wrong I was in a Discussion yesterday where a Member had downgraded another Member because his Discussion was to long Now Come on that is wrong and to make matters worse I checked the Member out that Downrated this Member and their Discussions are all one Liners

They have effect, but only as much as a regular plus rating will have, nothing extra, they are not super plusses. Where they do me the most good is in my own ego, though. Getting a best response indicates that what you said was well worth listening to.

Well is it me...or did they just not answer your question...you asked about best response. The answer is about rating them with +/-. I think they just avoided answering because they will NOT give any information regarding how pay is calculated.

I think they did answer my question, a best response does not influence your star reputation only (+) or (-)

This is the type of information that should be available for everyone, not only if you mail them asking for it. I don't think that it would be too difficult for them making a F.A.Q. about all these lithe things we simply don't know. And by doing that they would be stoping a lot of discussions that will be started asking these questions.

It seems to me that it makes no bearing on our payment and earning possibility also. I'm impressed you even got an answer! You got a lot more then most get from them!!!!! Just FYI, I ALWAYS rate EVERY answer I get on my discussions. I always give positive ratings unless your answer is a one word answer or a copy and paste, etc. I also give a positive rating to anyone that I answer their question. So if I've answered your discussion, you've received a plus from me.

Well they have said it. If mylot users give us a negative rating and our earnings are not affected then its a good news. but my concern would be the rating system I think even if our earnings are not affected by the best response. We have to admit that some people don't agree with us and they might give us a negative rating which can lower our reputation. The unfair thing about it is that I think they don't have the right to rate us negatively just because of disagreement. nahhh... I'm still good, this is still a good news.

They haven't answered your question regarding the earnings aspect heather, why don't you ask them again? I've always been under the impression BRs do increase earnings because I've seen it happening with my own earnings. Yesterday I responded to only one discussion and I've received two BRs, I have $0.16 in my account...now I won't believe mylot paid me that much for just one response?! ;o)

That does suggest that Best Responses have a value, doesn't it? 16 cents per response would be really high... I posted 8 responses yesterday and made 49 cents-- that works out at 6.13 cents per response, and that seems to be at the upper end of the scale.

I always knew that, and I read other members discussions where people though that their earnings are increasing if someone marks them as "best response", and I always respond to them that it's not true. Some of them believe me, and some not. I hope that those members who didn't believe me, will now read this discussion, and finaly understand that they were wrong. Thanks for lightning everyone here with this important subject.

thank you. it's good of you to share what mylot has to say about it. i had to read twice how the answer given by mylot answered your question to them. and yes, definitely, best responses does not affect the star ratings. as the ratings are based on the percentage of positive ratings over the number of posts made. and it's solely in the hands of mylot users. but nothing about earnings was included in your question to mylot. so mylot did not provide any answer to the effect of best responses to the earnings. in my own interpretation of your question, mylot has provided a direct answer, and i agree with it. i don't however, fully agree of the interpretation about earnings because that wasn't asked, therefore, not quite answered by mylot either. hope this is not offending in anyway. :)

when you reached 100 posts, yes you will. goodluck on that! it can be from 0 to 10 (with 10 being the highest), depending on how other users rate the quality of your posts. ;)

I thought the stars you got were from the amount of psots you did and had nothign at all to do with users. Here is a topic which tells a bit about it. http://www.mylot.com/w/discussions/944595.aspx

That discussion only tells you that you get a star once you reach 100 points it does not say anything about how you get your rating my topic does.

I think you are correct in your interpratation...best responses do not affect our star ratings. Our star ratings do not affect our earnings. I think it's strange how myLot answers queries sometimes. It seems like they always talk in circles and leave it kind of open to a person's view point; especially where earnings are concerned. Thanks for posting this whiteheather. The information is helpful.

Mylot - Mylot in green colour
Yes after reading the mylot response I do believe it doesnt effect your earnings. I do think the best response is something nice to do I know I love to see that Ive gotton a best response it makes me feel good.I try to do the same in return .Even tho there are no earnings involved is a good gesture.

I am glad that you have shared it with us. Now we can say best responses will not effect our star ratings. But still it is not sure that they will effect our earnings or not. Mylot will never reavel their payment policy.

First off, Thank you for posting this. I guess you can look at that a few different ways. On one side, maybe they think that people are more likely to respond to a user that has a higher rateing or maybe its just for self esteem issue. As hard as it is to get a higher 9 or 10 star rateing, weather it really works that way or not, they probably think that some users are just more likely to respond to someone that has a higher rateing. again, Thanks for posting this.

Wow, you struck lottery! myLot replied! :P And I am not sure about your interpretation. It seems to be what you interpreted but notice myLot did not say that best responses will not improve your rating. They simply said some rubbish and sidestepped your question. They just don't want to tell you or they can't answer mail properly lol. I never heard best responses can improve ratings though - and we can't really change the number of best responses we get. :PP

I interpret it that the stars number is increased or decreased by the ratings of discussions and responses. They totally ignored the earnings issue in their response to you. It could be interpreted that it does not affect the earnings the way the reply was stated. It could also be interpreted that they ignored that part (earnings increasing) of the question.
