Earning adjustment.

I was just thinking about this. As many discussions I've seen about people wondering why their earnings have gone down, wouldn't it make sense for MyLot to add a column in the "Earnings" section? I would just call it "Earning Adjustments" or just "Adjustments" to show if money has been added or deleted from people's earnings. It would decrease a lot of the confusion, I would think. Banks do it, stores do it, even employers do it. They itemize the deductions, credits, debits on the statements that you receive. Just my humble opinion. What do you think?

My earnings I am pretty happy with, I don't pay real attention to them as I get caught up with the discussions, etc. But this would be an improvement Mylot can do with and it'd cut down a lot of confusion. My post is no different to those who have posted in this discussion. But what can I say? Great minds think alike! My earnings are between 10-30 cents daily with about 7-8 posts so I am quite happy with that

I don't really keep track, either, but it's really upsetting, when I discuss a lot of things with people, and find that my earnings are lower than the day before. :) Thankyou for your post!

I fully agree with you.Mylot can really add a informative section where members can find answers to some common problems they face at myLot.Instead of discussing these topics in the discussions. There are many discussion daily about their earnings decreased or increased. The members make all sort of guesses in explaining the same. so it would be better if myLot themselves explain the most probable causes for these things. This shold not e a problem to them as it does not in any way disclose their algorithm for calculating one's earnings.I will also request myLot to provide answers to some common questions about earnings in a way that their earning algorithm is also not disclosed and members can also find the answers.

we are all guessing here. in the first place, you should have addressed this directly to the moderators of mylot to get the explanation from them. You are free to give suggestions to them as well.

it would be a great idea but i think it would display too much of how mylot pay us and what for. I think this would go against their rules i think blessed be

Well, I do think that that adding details is going to far, but just putting a a column with an amount of what has been deducted. I don't think it would that different than listing your deductions on a paystub. Thank you for your post!

I agree with your idea and like it because as a member here we are very curious of how our discussion being rate and why we got a higher earnings and why we had deducted our earnings. In our school there is also a financial statement to tell us whats about our earnings or funds and to clear our confusions.

You're right-- earnings adjustments on myLot are sometimes hard to understand. I think your idea is a good one, but I also think it may be very difficult for myLot to implement-- mostly because of the way earnings are calculated, and the way the site is programmed. This is a site with "dynamic" (changing) web pages, rather than "static" pages. The easiest way to explain that is to consider the number to the right of your username. When you post a response, it goes up by one. On a "static" page, that would just affect the page you just "created." On a "dynamic" site, your count goes up in a database, which then is reflected on every single page you've ever posted to. When your earnings change, it usually doesn't have anything to do with YOU. Usually it means that a discussion you responded to (and it may have been a very GOOD response) was deleted because the original poster included some kind of guideline violation. Because the site can't really have "orphan" reponses sitting around, your response gets deleted, along with the entire discussion. Your income for the day you actually posted the response adjusts by a few cents, but it LOOKS like your income "just" went down. This becomes more pronounced when an entire member account is deleted, and maybe you'd made several responses on their discussions. When that happens, it could be that your income is "adjusted" for 5-6 separate days. From what I have seen on myLot, our earnings appear to be calculated "on the fly," just like individual discussions. What that means is that your list of daily earnings is not actually "fixed." As an experiment, wait till about the 27th-29th of the month and print out a copy of your daily earnings for the month. At the end of the month, there are usually lots of administrative adjustments; accounts and discussions are deleted, and earnings tend to fluctuate a bit. Then if it seems like your earnings changed, print the same list again on around the 5th of the next month, and compare the two-- you'll probably find that SEVERAL of the numbers don't match-- some will be higher, some will be lower. Which brings me back to the "adjustments" report-- because your earnings are not actually "locked" amounts, day by day, the system doesn't have anything to "compare" to-- there is no "then" amount to compare to a "now" amount... because ALL amounts are "right now." And it would take a complete re-coding of the earnings algorithm to leave all amounts as "fixed" and then "adjust" them. And whereas it would be nice to have, I doubt myLot would make such a change, anytime soon. Sorry for the long-winded explanation!

Don't be sorry at all!!! I do agree that the whole system would be difficult to change. Your explanation helped me understand why. I really do appreciate details like this, as I know nothing about computer programming (except I know a dangerous amount of the BASIC programming language! LOL) Thank you for your response!

I don't understand it. However I did have a decrease in earnings for a spell but the last update my pay rate seemed to raise again. I wish the earnings would show for responding and for posting a discussion seperately. I don't see any money being made with starting a discussion at all.

I think that there are too many mylot members for mylot to give a description of why your earnings went up or down- But I think a column with adjustments is a great idea. Mylot has been making alot of changes so maybe they will do this. I try to remember each day when I shut down mylot what my earnings are. Sometimes I forget..so this would be helpful. I guess I could just write them down too and compare. Good suggestion.

I agree with you on the description aspect of it. Although, it may just be a matter of adjusting the programming and adding some storage space to the format. I'm not a computer expert, so I really don't know. putting a list of our deductions would really help, though. Thank you for your response!

I think that they should put the number of posts you've made each day and thus calculate the amount of money per post... it might help members understand their message quality.

Yes, I agree with this, having online is not a free lunch, with myLot (offers to earn while we are online here), should be more transparent on what really is happening on those adjustment.

That's a great idea and it would, as you say, eliminate some of the confusion. I checked my earnings from yesterday in comparison with today's and I think mine actually went up, but I can't really remember. A separate column for any additions or subtractions would make it easier to figure out.

Well, I'm glad I passed along some helpful information. :) yes, earning can decrease, as well as increase--depending on the post, quality, and how well they follow the rules. Keeping track of your earnings will be helpful.

I keep a small notebook and jot down the daily earnings and can see when things change and how often. I have no real complaints since I earn about what I wish to anyway. Just paying attention and keep some records would do just fine in understanding sort of how this site works. Good luck with this situation!!

Well, I agree that I should keep track of my own earnings a bit better than I do. I'm not really using myLot to get paid, but make friends anyway, so it doesn't matter that much to me, I guess. I just get tired of seeing the posts from people asking where their earnings went. :) Thank you for your response!

Well, what I wish to see in the earning area is how much do we get for a particular response we made for that day earning update. I think by doing this, I will understand where is the wrong with my post which makes me earn a small penny. Your idea is ok also because this can help the member to know what is their mistake with their post.

That would be sweet, wouldn't it? I keep thinking it would be nice to have the earnings updated more frequently, too. I know that this would be a lot more math involved, but wouldn't that be nice?

Ya, I do agree with you, but I think we also can track that by ourselves. Now I try to keep my earnings in mind every day, also the amount of my posts. then have a check on my earning the next day to see how much i can earn per post. so I can make sure if my posts are qualified. To be frank, I only came across the decrease of earnings once, and that was several days after I joined mylot. From then on, I have not experienced that again. I think it is not difficult to remember our daily earnings. also if it is not easy to some friends, we can write it down. but for mylot team, it is not easy to add a new item. Mylot has become a world wide forum. and there are always many friends online all day long. and maybe It needs to close temporarily for the update. it's not convenient for those online friends, and as we all know, mylot experienced an update only several days ago. I think, maybe mylot team would add this new item with some other new features in the next update day.

OH, I know that is isn't going to be easy or an overnight fix. I was just thinking that it may be one of those updates for the future type things. I'm just hoping that this idea will hit the suggestion box somewhere and help the mylot staffers help us a little more. Cute little baby in your avatar, BTW. Such a cute smile!!! I think they should give us an explanation also as to why our earnings are increasing or decreasing. Every now and then my earnings will go up or down a few cents but we never know the reason for it. I have noticed that my earnings are not as good as they was about a week ago and I am doing the same amount of work. It doesn't make sense why I am not making the same amount of money each day for the same amount of work being done here. I guess I am at my low now and will have to build it back up there again, but I would sure like to know why I am earning less now and it would be very nice if they could explain it to me.

I truely agree. I belong to a site called upromise.com. This is a shopping site, where you earn $$ for kids and can save it for college. It's really nice, as they have a detailed list of all the individual products I've purchased through their site and the amount earned. There shouldn't be a reason that myLot couldn't be able to do this. Thank you for your response!!
