Does your spouse/partner love a food that you think is just disgusting?

I have an ex-boyfriend who loved his steaks extremely rare, I mean barely warm, bleeding all over the plate, rare. Then he would take a bisquit or bread and soak up all the blood and eat it. It would make me nauseated to watch him eat it, and I would completely lose my appetite and usually had to leave the room. I wouldn't kiss him or let him breathe on me until he brushed his teeth and gargled first. I don't eat much steak but I like mine well done, just short of burnt. Is there a food that makes you nauseated but your spouse/partner just loves?

Actually yes my girlfriend really loves shrimp and I cant stand the taste or smell of them. I first tryed them on News Years Eve a few years back and they where so rubbery it almost made me sick. She also loves crab legs and the smell of those alone make me dizzy and really light headed. I guess Im just not a big sea food fan anymore although I do eat tuna and samon but the other things are absolutey gross in looks and smeels and espiecally in taste.

I have a friend who doesn't like food with a rubbery texture either. Hers is mushrooms, oh she hates them with a passion. I think my biggest problem is with the raw part. I can't eat any kind of meat, fish, seafood or poultry unless it's thoroughly cooked first.

There are loads of foods which I like and my partner doesn't but that's because he's really fussy. He doesn't like ANY fruit or veg apart from onions and potatoes. I think that's weird. Not potatoes, they are lovely, but how can anyone dislike things which barely taste of anything such as peas and carrots and other tasteless veg, but really like onions? That's just weird. There are two things I can think of that my partner really likes that I think are disgusting. One of them is, as you may have guessed, onions, the other is Marmite. It smells disgusting, it looks like mud and people still eat it, even knowing what it is they still want to eat it!

I had a boyfriend once who refused to eat any green vegies whatsoever. The only vegies that he would even consider eating were corn and potatoes. I don't know how you can survive without some green vegetable occasionally but he was living proof that you can I guess. I had to look up Marmite, I'd never heard of it. Sounds a little gross to me too. I can't imagine the smell.. whew. Sounds like it has a lot of vitamins though. I'll take mine in a pill thank you very much... LOL! Thanks for your answer :)

My boyfriend is the same way with his steak. It doesn't bother me too much. He likes shrimp and fish and I can't even stand the thought of it. But on the flip side, I love liver and onions and he absolutely hates it. So I guess we are even.

I lucked out finding a guy who likes livers, especially chicken livers. Most men can't stand the smell but my hubby loves them as much as I do.

Oh gross! I was nauseated just reading that! LOL My hubby does like a lot of food I don't but what I think is the most disgusting is sour kraut. I hate the way that stuff smells! I still make it for him but UGH! I hate it when he eats a lot of onions too. I don't like raw onions and hate the smell of it. I have made him brush his teeth after eating them at times. It's just such a powerful smell!

Sauerkraut I can handle although I'm not big on the smell either. Anything cabbage or cabbage-y smelling is I have a hard time with. Funny thing is I love taste but the smell definitely puts me off. It took me a long time but I finally got used to onions... but not onion breath! Whew nasty! LOL

Seems a lot of guys don't like seafood much. My husband isn't a big fan of it either. He'll eat tuna once in a while but doesn't like lobster, crab or shrimp at all. If I want seafood I have to eat it for lunch before he comes home from work. Thanks for responding :)

Well it doesn't make me nauseated but my wife loves asparagus and I don't. I do not like the taste of it. So when she cooks it she cooks me a different vegetable.

Awww G, but asparagus is so yummy! :) My husband is a brussel sprouts fanatic, eats them at least 2 times a week. I like the taste of them but hate the smell. I always have to break out the air freshner on the nights he wants them. Thanks

I LOVE fried Catfish and my girlfriend can't stand it. She hates the smell of it, even if she comes home hours later after I've cooked it she complains about me having cooked it. But, since I do all of the cooking and she does none, she's going to have to live with it :p

Yep, smells can be just as bad. My ex that liked the raw steak couldn't stand the smell of my fried chicken livers and I LOVE them. Every time I cooked them I had to spray the whole house with air freshner before he got home or I'd hear about it all night! Thanks for your response :)

I'm glad my husband and I like our steaks the same way!! However, he likes REALLY spicy food. I mean REALLY spicy. I love all types of food - thai, indian, etc. but when he cooks thai or indian food, it's so spicy it burns my mouth. Sometimes it makes my mouth water. I know now NOT to eat some of his spicy cooking. He, of course, thinks the food I cook is WAY too bland. We do our best...

NO I can't say that he does. What I can say is that when we got together I used to like my steak (or any meat) just like you. This side of burnt! Over the years though I have developed a taste for less cooked meat. Don't get me wrong I don't want it dripping blood but some redness to the meat is ok. It honestly taste better that way.

Me and my boyfriend have thing we can't watch another eat. He hates shrimp and I love it. I love chic peas and he hates it, he likes thing I don't like but I'm a real picky eater odds are there's a dozen thing he doesn't like to see me eat and that I hate to see him eat. Luckily we share some common interests!

Its the other way around with me and my girl, she only eats meat, yeah some veggies here and there but she avoids it if she can. I eat a lot of veggies but Im very partial to meat too. She hates it when I cook something special for her but it has lots of veggies along when meat. Well its hard to cook stir fry with only meat right? Well that's what she hates a lot eating her greens I just convince her to eat some to avoid any problems with her health. :)

I am supposed to correct you. That's not 'blood' it is 'gravy'...LOL. My husband is the same way. But I think the worst thing he EVER ate was calamari. My husband and our kids think it is great (especially deep-fried). To me, it's bait.

LOL, no matter how ya slice it, if it's bleeding on my plate take it back! Got to agree with him on the calamari thought, good stuff. I like octopus too. Bait me.. go ahead! LOL

Well, I'm sort of the gross one. I love shrimp, but my spouse can't stand it. So we don't buy any. Which is kind of silly since it's just for me. Guess he's afraid that I will cook it and serve it to him. And he's right. He doesn't like rare beef, but he did like beef. Still does, but can't eat beef for health reasons. We cut out the beef. Personally, I can't stand to eat beef, cause I keep thinking of the cows that the beef came off of and it makes me feel sad. Crying and eating rarely mix.

I will go you even one better. I love seafood, he can't stand it. He loves tripe (cow stomach), I hate it. Once a month we have dinner by ourselves or with friends .. he gets to order tripe without me gagging as he is eating it and I get to have seafood without him turning green.
