163Mandolingirl responded to a discussion called Marmite shortage in New Zealand - national crisis! in food.
I used to love Marmite/Vegemite as a child but as it was one of the only things I could stomach on toast during an almost fatal bout of hepatitis, while in India, I no longer eat it. I was all Marmited out for a while! [em]rofl[/em] I might try it again if it isn't too expensive now in the UK, as it has been years since I last tasted it.

163Mandolingirl responded to a discussion called easter chocolate! in mylot.com.

I remember fondly the wonderful, exquisite chocolate eggs my dear father used to bring home for us when he worked in London. Not only were the eggs themselves works of art but the boxes were gorgeous too! The boxes lasted for years, not like the cheap nasty ones around nowadays. They were so well made that they often ended up as jewellery and keepsakes boxes. He didn't have a lot of money to sp...

As I am from the UK, where pants are under-garments called knickers, I have some horrible visions in my mind! [em]rofl[/em] I do agree that what we call 'builders' bum' is very unflattering whatever shape you are. I don't find it attractive whatever sex is displaying it!

163Mandolingirl responded to a discussion called better to proofread in paper? in writing.
As an ex-professional proofreader, I can assure you that it is very hard to check your own work. The eye sees what it wants to see, and often your own mistakes are overlooked. Printing a copy is the only really effective way of checking work. You also need to read every word slowly and carefully to avoid common mistakes that the spellcheck won't catch. Yes, it is tiring, but worth it when you k...

163Mandolingirl responded to a discussion called I am a frustrated singer...Gosh! in music lover.

I sing all the time at my folk club. It has helped me build up my confidence and has given me lots of new friends. Maybe you could try something like that to give you experience with singing in public. All the best! It is never too late for anything new! [em]happy[/em]

163Mandolingirl responded to a discussion called Smile in happy.
The true nature of Mankind is kindness. A smile, and laughter, is all we need to communicate, and especially with those who don't share our language. It relieves any tension that could arise with misunderstanding different cultures. It can make anyone's day a lot happier. Maybe if the warmongers smiled and laughed more, we wouldn't have wars! Keep smiling! [em]happy[/em]

163Mandolingirl responded to a discussion called My mother don't understand me! in people.
I am so sorry to hear that you have a difficult relationship with your mother. My Mum was my best friend. She passed in 2003 and I miss her beyond words! We too had moments where our relationship was a little strained but we did love each other and would never do anything to break our fantastic bond. One of my Mum's favourite sayings was, 'Two wrongs never make a right!' Maybe in the interes...

163Mandolingirl commented in a discussion called Dreams...Meaningful or Meaningless in dreamer.
Dreams are not only the way our minds process all we experience every day but are also the way our higher self connects to the world of spirit. It is in dreams that we are able to communicate with our spiritual guardians and loved ones who have passed to spirit, connect with the universal energies, and maybe even experience prophetic dreams that will help us understand our true purpose in life....

163Mandolingirl commented in a discussion called Excited for Teaching Demo? in teacher.
If you want to earn good money, don't become a teacher! Wherever you live in the world, teaching is a very low-paid job. No-one considers the dedication teachers put into their careers. If you don't love teaching, don't go into it! I wish you all the best if you do go into the profession! [em]niceday[/em]

Does sound-meditation work for you?

One of the small unpaid jobs I do is to write book and CD reviews for a UK spiritual magazine. I am allowed to keep what I review as payment in kind. I am presently checking out a sound-meditation...

Are some people just plain rude when it comes to not answering texts, etc?

I'm fed up a sending texts, emails and Facebook messages that are never answered by some people! Is our society getting ruder? Have manners gone out of the window now? I must admit that it is usually...

The new Torchwood

What a brilliant but awful and frightening storyline the writer has come up with! It is a lot more disturbing than anything that has been on before because it is a what if? scenario. I find these...

Pass the tissues, please!

I thought I was reading some kind of joke in one of the London papers I found on my train-journey last night. Apparently Virgin will be warning us about 'emotional content' at the beginning of their...
