If you could commission a famous artist to paint your portrait, who would it be?

The Temptation of St. Anthony by Salvador Dalí - This is The Temptation of St. Anthony by none other than the famous surrealist, Salvador Dalí.

Although he passed on in 1989, I would have loved to have seen what Salvador DalĂ could have made me into as paint on canvas. His surreal landscapes always leave me with a sense of wonder, trying to imagine what was going through his mind as he was creating them. Oh, how I wish I could have been standing in the center of one.:) If you could commission a famous artist, living or dead, to paint your portrait, who would it be?

Jackson Pollock, just because I wouldn't want my portrait to be what everybody else thinks a portrait should be (a picture of themselves). I'd want it to be interpreted differently by the beholder. And nobody does this better than Jackson.

Thanks, and thanks for the best response too. Yeah, he's a pretty interesting artist, and if I'm not mistaken, he began the movement of just random brushstrokes and blotting.

Never having heard of Jackson Pollock, I endeavoured to look him up. Wow! Now that would make one heck of an interesting portrait! Good answer, Colonel!

It will be Pablo Picasso. I want to see how my face looks like after he paints the eyes, nose and mouth in different places inside a head.

I was wondering if anyone would say Picasso! While I'm not a huge fan of his work, I must admit, I would be curious to see what he would make of me. :)

If I had to commission a famous artist to paint my portrait it would be Thomas Kincade. He is a Christian artist and his paintings are breath taking.

Having lived in southern California for a few years, I'm very familiar with Thomas Kincade. I believe he's commonly refered to as the "Painter of Light." And it's true, if you have one of his paintings hanging on your wall and dim the lights, sure enough, the painting exhibits an inner light of its own. It has to be seen to be believed . . . it's amazing!

Oooh, Dali would be an interesting one! I'm not sure who I would go with. Da Vinci would be interesting, or Picasso. Van Gogh is my favorite, so maybe him!

Van Gogh is my favorite painter too. We have a copy of his Starry Night picture in our living room. My sister and brother decided that they both liked it so much after we bought it that they went out and bought copies of it too. So to answer the question, I would want Van Gogh to paint me picture. I just love his work.

Starry, starry night. Paint your palette blue and grey. Look out on a summer's day . . . I'm sorry, I couldn't help myself. Starry Night always reminds me of the Don MacLean song.
